Paula Abdul's "Cold hearted snake"

I'm not saying it was written about Prince but can't you imagine Prince inspiring this song in the eighties? It has a Prince vibe about it...anyone hear it?

I know Prince wrote "U" for her spellbound album...it is ok but I really wished I could see a choreographed video between Paula and Prince. biggrin Maybe not now but definatly in the late eighties or early ninties I think it would have gone over VERY well.

He didn't.

The song was originally written and recorded as 'You' in 1979 as part of 'The Rebels' sessions, with Gayle Chapman on lead vocals.

It was significantly updated in 1987 for Paula Abdul.

Well, since we're being so anal about it, it wasn't updated in 1987 for Paula Abdul. It was updated in 1987 for unkown reasons. There was no "Paula Abdul" for him to be updating it for in 1987 lol He threw it her way as an afterthought when Martika snagged the track "Don't Say U Love Me" that he had written for Paula.

This song got me through revising for a mean old exam just after Christmas during my first year of the Law degree - had it on constant replay. Shame it didn't do so well over in the UK - it's a far superior song to most of the Stock Aitken Waterman shite that was top of the charts here.

I hated "Cold Hearted Snake", it was too pop sounding. "The Way That You Love Me" was the funkiest thing Paula ever did. It's probably the only song of her's that I like.
