A startling revelation...... I'm listening to Smooth Jazz 104.3 and I hear all these bad covers.... It's the new Babyface CD!
Please don't send this one to Vainandy for a Christmas present because it's mellow moods all the way through. I respect Babyface as a songwriter and admire his success but this is like um, Tony Rich, Stephen Bishop, Al Stewart, Michael Franks and Air Supply all marching to Washington leading the "Mellow Man March." I like Babyface but I'm gonna skip this one.I'm tired of covers albums!  Babyface is better than this.He shouldn't have to be covering other artists' material! | |

The problem is that alot of artists water-down the covers, thats really the issue. Three of the best cover albums are Berlin's "4PLAY" Rick Springfields "Day After Yesterday" and Hall and Oates "Our Kind of Soul" . I understand about the whole cover album issue, but if done right they can be very good, it really depends on the artist and what they do with the song, if they alter them, then its over. Funny, I was watching TV the other night & that commercial came on playing the songs from this album. I was thinking "..WTF is this wack sh*t Babyface is playing?!!" Really lame.  | |
