Yeah, I was going to mention "Where Do U Want Me To Put It."
OK, here is another one-hit wonder, arguably the 800-pound gorilla of them: Anita Ward's "Ring My Bell." THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS! | |

Actually, Frankie Smith's hit song is very memorable -- "Double Dutch Bus," a No. 1 song on Billboard R&B Singles chart in 1982. "Give me a 'Ho!' if you got your funky bus fare!" [Edited 8/3/07 19:54pm] THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. And Bernard Wright had several albums that are actually pretty good. A one-hit wonder, IMO, is someone who had a hit song (in this case, at least a top 20 song on the Billboard R&B singles chart) and went quickly back into obscurity. Anita Ward is a classic one-hit wonder. It can't be someone who enjoyed notable success in some other incarnation like Lenny Williams, who was the lead singer for Tower of Power before going solo again (he was a solo act prior to T of P); also, I believe Williams had another hit song besides "'Cause I Love You," called "Shoo Doo Fu Fu Ooh!" On the other hand, Bernard Wright may qualify because the top 10 single "Who Do You Love" was his only hit. I believe it was on his third album, "Mr. Wright." While he has continued over the years as a studio musician, I don't believe he came remotely close to having another successful song. The Deele had a few more hits than ONE. "Body Talk", "Two Occasions", "Sweet November", "Shoot 'Em Up Movies" and "Just My Luck" were their most well known hits. When I think of ONE hit wonders, Koffee Brown ("THe Afterparty"), comes to mind. Also UNV ("Something's Going On"). Vanity 6, Apollonia 6, and Mazariti all fall into that category. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
