Ah, but what about Rockwell's followup single "Obscene Phone Caller" which was a top 10 R&B hit?

I finally got one of my resource books, "Top R&B/Hip-Hop Singles 1942-2004," which has every listing for every song on the Billboard R&B Singles charts. You're right, Rockwell's "Obscene Phone Caller" peaked at No. 9 in 1984.

I don't know if he has been named yet, but I'll nominate Trey Lorenz, who only had one hit -- 1993's "Someone to Hold" (No. 5).

I also didn't see this one, but I'll name Debra Laws, who recorded the memorable "Very Special" (No. 11, 1981) with her brother Ronnie.

I'll also name a big one that apparently was not named -- Major Harris, whose classic "Love Won't Let Me Wait" was his only hit in his solo career. Harris may be a question mark, because he was a member of The Delfonics (albeit he was a member during the group's decline).
