I'm pretty sure Shannon had another single called "Give Me the Night" or something like that.

That's the 2nd Shannon reference and I've never heard that cut.

You must be a young'in. "Give Me Tonight" was all over the radio in 1984.

Yeah from the looks it looks of that picture it looks like it was a bigger hit in the East coast than on the west side.

The System had several hit songs besides "Don't Disturb This Groove:"

* "You Are in My System," which peaked at No. 10 in 1983.
* "This Is for You," which peaked at No. 8 in 1986.
* "Nighttime Lover," which peaked at No. 7 in 1987.
* "Midnight Special," which peaked at No. 5 in 1989.

That's not even counting songs like the theme song to "Comin' to America (No. 23, 1988)" and "The Pleasure Seekers (No. 21, 1985)," which were not that far from the top 20.

Shannon's follow-up songs to "Let the Music Play" -- "Give Me Tonight," "My Heart's Divided" and "Do You Wanna Get Away" -- all sounded like their predecessor, to the point some people confused them. All four of them also were big hits in the club scene, with only "My Heart's Divided (No. 3)" not going to the top of the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts.

I think she had another pop top forty with "All Woman".

Here's my list of one-hit wonders:
"What Is Love" - Haddaway
"Too Shy" - Kajagoogoo (I think that was their name)
"One Night in Bangkok" - Murray Head
"Bust a Move" - Young MC (I don't remember if he had any hits on the rap chart that were close to a hit than this one)
"Informer" (this song blows chunks) - Snow

These are the ones that popped into my head. And yeah, anybody who has one pop hit but more hits on the R&B chart I won't consider a one-hit wonder. Same with country artists who just had one pop hit (Billy Ray Cyrus anybody?) or rap (Biz Markie has had a lot of rap classics but the pop world only knows him by "Vapors").

At least two other people said that The System had more than one hit single and it seemed like you were not convinced that songs like "This Is for You" were top 20 singles. That's why I posted the group's four other top 10 songs with their chart positions, plus two other songs that missed the top 20.

Absolutely not. "Are You Lonely for Me" was also a #1 hit while "My Kinda Girl" made the top 5 and "Heaven" the top 15.

"Make it Hot" -Nicole Ray

Love that one, too! One of Timbaland's best.

"All Cried Out -Allure (referring to this group only) and 112 (obviously went on to be stars)

"Head Over Heels" also made the top 20.

I just tripped off the fact that they sampled that song. I didn't hear "The Jacksons" album until long ater LaDae faded away. All I know is that when I heard "Show You The Way To Go" I immediately loved and felt like I heard it before.
