All For You Appreciation Thread My fav Janet album. I know many people hate this
but I think its her best. Its got her club/pop tracks You Ain't Right, All For You. The good love makin tracks When We Ooo, Love Scene (unlike her latest bed party tracks). The romantic Someone To Call My Lover, Fell So Right, ahh arnt they good! It was the first album I listen to without skiping a track. Also the interludes are best on this one. All tracks work togather unlike her latest. Its a clean, happy, fresh, reflective album that made my year. Fave tracks You ain't right When we oooo someone to call my lover better days feels so right [Edited 7/16/07 5:59am]

lol alex, those albums define GREATNESS, with all for you janet was taking the safe approach musically which is why people saw it as a step back, but the tunes were still radio friendly and easily likeable, at least the ones other than love scene and would you mind

Not her best for sure, and I dont like the slow songs on it much, but man are the dance tracks good. It also has a good pop feel to it. That said, it was a big step down from The Velvet Rope, which was a really true work of art.

The album marks the end of the brilliant Janet era where she could do no wrong musically for 11 years (1986-1997). I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

I just listened to it right now and it really is a feel good poppy album, janet obviously wanted to have fun with this one and be youthful and like the girl next door with it
I still feel like it's such a shame that songs like come on get up and trust a try were not released in 2002, stupid virgin! [Edited 7/16/07 12:26pm]

Yep heard them but 'All For You' did it for me. Yeah i really like 'Control' and 'RN' but I keep listing to All For You, I guess its just a catchy pop album, pure fun. 'Janet' i never got into, how much I tried. Too many slow james for me. 'The Velvet Rope' yeah thats a good album, but for so some reson I listen to Damita Jo & All For You even more than that, I guess those two keep me in a good mood.

I feel the same way. It was the last Janet album I really liked. Plus, she was actually trying to sing through it. None of this cooing through every track shit she's been pulling.

my least favorite album and I remember when the album first came out my mom was taking me to school and Janet was on the Doug Banks Morning show and Dede decided to have a reading of the lyrics to " Would you Mind" and My mom's facial expression was pricesless and then she told me you know your not getting that getting that new Janet Jackson cd right . and I never got a round to getting a pyschial copy
well anyway I use to still listen to the samples online and the only songs that stood out to me was come on get up and trust a try. but the cd has grew on me especially after I finally downloaded the whole album. favorite to least feels so right trust a try someone to call my lover come on ge up all for you ( they played the mes out of that song in 2001 so I nevere played it allot) doesn't really matter you aint't right. son of a gun. better days chyna love the only songs I don't like are would you mind, truth and love scene . and this cd has the worst intertludes. thankfully you can skip most of them

I was upset with the amount of swearing on it when it came out cause I wanted janet to kick people's butts with sales. It ended up selling 3 million though it could have been much more had more singles been released in 2002

Oh gawd, I HATE "All For You".
I was so pissed when I bought the album because of what a dissapointment it turned out to be. I was big on Janet at the time and went out and bought it the first day it came out but after listening to it twice, I realized what trash the album was. The only good songs on there were "All For You", "Trust A Try", "China Love" and "Someone To Call My Lover". I haven't listened to that awful album in 6 years and I have no plans on listening to it anytime soon. I curse the day I ever purchased "All For You". I HATE HATE HATE that album with a passion and I often like to pretend it doesn't exist . "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

Yep I think EMI lost alot of money throu the pay off to Mariah Carey and her failed Glitter project, thats why they diden't relase anymore singles. I still think with a $80 million record deal they should have kept her and gave her a chance. And I feel the same way about Janet EMI should have kept her. Universal are only gaining great artists, and EMI only piss them off. All For You along with Aaliyah was EMI's biggest money makers of the year of 2001.

I always figured it was because of the mariah carey incident that all for you was cut short, which REALLY sucks for janet because the album sales were beginning to rise again after the HBO concert aired and it would have been a perfect time to launch come on get up or something as a single. janet's contract with Virgin/EMI was up, 20 YO was supposed to be her last album on that label, and I'm personally glad she's moved on cause they did a shitty ass job promoting her since velvet rope

I think I'm the only person that doesn't like Come On Get Up. I just don't get the love for it. It never makes me want to dance, only fast forward. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I didn't like it either when I first heard it, then I kinda-sorta liked it then hated it again. Now I love it though I still think janet played it safe musically on the album, doesn't mean it's a bad album. I think many people expected it to be innovative because that's how velvet rope was viewed by many, and there were rumors that she was going for a more hip hop sound from working with rockwilder, but it was the opposite.
