Favorite funky New Wave song? I'll have to think about that Have you ever listened to the band A Certain Ratio? Nope Speaking of which, why have you failed to acknowledge the funky bands that came out of the Post-Punk/New Wave era (Gang of 4, APB, The Pop Group, Maximum Joy, etc.)? Cause I haven't listened to any of those bands Do you like the band Level 42? Haven't listened to them. I've heard good things about the band, especially their bassist. I'm going to check 'em out at some point Are you into British Funk groups (Beggar & Co., Imagination, Light of the World, Hi Tension, Central Line, etc.)? I haven't heard as many British funk groups as I'd like to have heard. I've been meaning to get into Light Of The World for some time now. Gotta get my hands on their debut. Oh and I love AWB What was the last funky Prince song? Musicology Admit it, Cameo was the baddest funk band of their time, weren't they? They are great, but not the greatest I once said that Jamiroquai was one of the last great Funk bands (which started some controversy). Am I right? 'Great' funk died in the early eighties. Jamiroquai are an ok band. They were a whole lot funkier when they still had Stuart Zender (or whatever he was called ) on bass You do realize there are still some funky bands out there right now? (The Rapture, Los Amigos Invisibles, Bamboo Chutes, Meech Wilson, !!!, Harco Pront, Q & Not U, etc. ) Yes, I do realize that. Modern funk bands pretty much always have that contemporary sound that I dislike Who is the funkiest rhythm guitarist ever? Tough one Even though they're a Hip-Hop group, wouldn't you say that Outkast carries the funk torch? Nah It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

I know, I know That's the brand of funk I dig the most, though. After the seventies and early eighties, 'funk' became watered-down synth-filled crap. Newer funk (as in contemporary funk) never captures the feel of the original thang. It always ends up sounding too clean & polished. I do need to do some catching up when it comes to some of that British funk, though It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

A few more questions:
Wasn't Prince's Parade Tour one of his funkiest? Isn't "The Payback" by my man JB one of the baddest jams ever? Would you like some funk guitar lessons? What do you mean Outkast doesn't carry the funk torch? Isn't "What Time Is It?" The Time's best album? Isn't "Dance With Me" by Rick James a kick-ass tune? Have you ever heard Red Hot Chili Peppers 2nd album produced by George Clinton called "Freaky Styley" (one of their best)? Which bands have had a lame attempt at funk? Isn't Cymande the most underrated Funk band? War is a pretty funky band too, right? Isn't it ironic that most Hip-Hopppers and young cats in general won't get into funk but they sample and use old school Funk records and incorporate them into their music? Isn't "Robbery" by Teena Marie an underrated album? Why do you dislike modern/contemporary funk? Don't you know that true funk never dies? And finally.. 'The Payback' is one baadd jam ndeed Would you like some funk guitar lessons? I'd rather concentrate on gettin' better at playing bass What do you mean Outkast doesn't carry the funk torch? I don't think Outkast is a funky. Half of their stuff (Bigboi's) is lameass hip hop crap. Andre has some good cuts but waaaay too much filler on their albums (at least on Love Below/Speakerboxx). I also don't think I've ever heard a funky cut from Outkast Isn't "What Time Is It?" The Time's best album? Yes. Isn't "Dance With Me" by Rick James a kick-ass tune? It's ok, but not as good as You & I, Bustin Out', Ghetto Life, Give It To Me Baby, Hard To Get, Standing On The Top, Mary Jane, Fool On The Street etc etc. Have you ever heard Red Hot Chili Peppers 2nd album produced by George Clinton called "Freaky Styley" (one of their best)? Nope. I dislike RHCP Which bands have had a lame attempt at funk? Isn't Cymande the most underrated Funk band? Dunno if they are the most underrated, but they definitely are underrated. I only own one of their albums but I plan on gettin' some mo' of their music in the near future. War is a pretty funky band too, right? Yes ndeed Isn't it ironic that most Hip-Hopppers and young cats in general won't get into funk but they sample and use old school Funk records and incorporate them into their music? Isn't "Robbery" by Teena Marie an underrated album? Haven't heard it. It's one of her later eighties albums, right? Why do you dislike modern/contemporary funk? It never comes out sounding right. The production is usually too clean & polished and the ideas are usually not as interesting Don't you know that true funk never dies? Funk'n on 4eva! And finally.. Give me three golden rules that will improve my funk bass playing. Mark Adams usually has pretty complex basslines. I'll try to come up with individual songs later on. AWB's 'Pick Up The Pieces' is very simple, so is 'Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin). GCS's 'Entrow' is pretty simple too. Mark Adams (The whole 'Stone Jam' album is just incredible) Louis Johnson (Listen to Mista' Cool ) Oscar Alston (Rick James's bass player. Listen to stuff like Bustin' Out & Fool On The Street) George Porter Jr. (Cissy Strut, People Say, Jungle Man etc etc.) James Jamerson (One of the greatest bass players ever. Period. Put a Motown record on and enjoy. If you want a specific song, check out The Jackson 5's Darlin' Dear) I could continue this list all day Oh my, I ain't no teacher Funk is all about rhythm, and as a bass player, you gotta keep that shit groovin' 'n' in the pocket. Work on your timing, learn how to slap, learn some of the scales most commonly used in funk. Anthony Kiedis is a weak vocalist, they have this annoying punk attitude and their stuff is boring Like I said before, I dislike contemporary funk. It just doesn't 'feel' right, if you know what I mean. I do know that there are some acts still doing (or trying to do) funk nowadays, but I just ain't that interested in it I guess The Beatles had some funky-ish stuff. Haven't listened to them a whole lot so I don't know exactly how much they incorporated funk into their stuff Hendrix had some funky-ish stuff but I don't really consider him a funk artist I haven't listened to Talking Heads or ABC so dunno I like most of P's eighties stuff, and there's a whole lot of un-funky stuff in there too That whole 'emo' stuff is just goddamn ridiculous It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
