Especially ones that haven't seen a reissue yet (ie. I hope you David Bowie and Michael Jackson fans can hush up on this one and think a little deeper)

Since Island Records is pretty awesome at their other deluxe editions (Diana Ross Diana, DJ Shadow Endtroducing, Eric B & Rakim Paid In Full) and they have merged with Def Jam, I would like to see a deluxe edition for

LL Cool J - Radio.

This album had alternate versions on the 12" singles, studio outtakes (the original "I Need A Beat"), and LL had some impressive live bootleggage from around 1984-1986 (rhyming over T La Rock's "It's Yours" beat)..

and I don't think Radio was part of Def Jam's 2000 remastering campaign so it is LONG overdue.

There's a whole bunch of 60s jazz releases that due to the restrictions of the release format couldn't include as much stuff as the sessions produced. Of course there has been also a lot of "deluxe versions" made of those for the later CD releases already, but a lot of great music is still hidden from daylight as well.

When I take a look at my CD shelf where I keep my pop records (hey can't keep 'em together with the other stuff) I realize most of the classic albums there have already been turnt into deluxe CD versions. Even including lesser known albums like The Velvet Underground's "Loaded".



But maybe it would be finally the time to release all the Kraftwerk releases as double CDs where one of the CDs would contain the English versions of the songs and the other one the original German ones. There were also a few tracks done in French, as well. Also the very first Einstürzende Neubauten singles and limited vinyl pressings need to be compiled into a proper single release that would make more sense in a way that "Strategies Against Architecture" didn't.

The Clash - Combat Rock - featuring the official mix and the original Mick Jones "home movie" mix of the album, which differs substantially from the former. There are at least two VERY high quality bootlegs of the mix around, but it would be nice to see this available.

Dennis Wilson - Pacific Ocean Blue

Miles Davis - On The Corner

Marvin Gaye - In Our Lifetime - this was due out as a double CD last year, expanded to include both original configurations of the album.

Rolling Stones - Some Girls - to include the unedited versions of the songs (at least half of which were twice as long as the official verions - Miss You, Just My Imagination, Some Girls, When The Whip Comes Down)

ok, seriously, i would LOVE to see all of laurie anderson's albums get the remaster/reissue treatment. "big science", "mister heartbreak" and "home of the brave" especially, since they're her classic albums and they're part of a larger cycle of work.

By deluxe versions, do you mean a remastered album along with bonus tracks such as 12 Inches or unreleased tracks, or live tracks from that era? If that's the case, here's what I would like:

My very first choice would be Stevie Wonder's '70s albums, but it seems he's not going to budge on releasing some of those rare tracks. Marvin Gaye's In Our Lifetime and the Cure's Disintegration are apparently on the way, so that's a good thing.

Prince and the Beatles are obvious, but I'm not holding my breath.

Berlin was originally planned as a double album with the existing songs being substantially longer, but they were edited down for a single album release and the original tapes have been lost. There is a short piano interlude which appeared on the 8 track versio of the album, linking the two halves of the album together. It's currently being played on the Berlin tour.

The entire Dynasty library remastered would also be GREAT!!

The "Street Songs" deluxe edition if my memory serves me came out in 2001 and the bonus disc was the live concert material from the Long Beach Arena with Lady T. That was good stuff on that bonus disc, however, ultmately, given what a monumental marker in American cultural deveopment that "Street Songs" represented, I really think it deserves better treatment. I want outtakes and demos, I want to hear the shit that didn't make it. I want to hear instrumental versions of "Ghetto Life" and "Call Me Up" with Rick laying out and Danny Lamelle blowing his horn all the way through. I want spoken commentary from Rick about the process of making this album. Now maybe I have mixed up my p's and q's and this type of Deluxe Edition has been released, but I don't think so.

In my opinion, hands down the best of the Deluxe Editions (that's I've heard anyway) is the one they did for Marvin for "Let's Get It On". That bonus disc was AMAZING. It *was* a lost Marvin ALBUM. THAT is the standard for all Deluxed Editions to come to measure up to.

Good call - I want this album so very badly. I went through a very deep late '60s/early '70s Beach Boys binge recently, and I thought it would be nice to have this album to complement it. Imagine my shock when I found that copies are going for $140.00 minimum. It doesn't seem to be too hard to come by using less legitimate sources, of course...
