LCD Soundsystem- Sound of Silver

Oh

My

GOD.

eek

I'm stunned! I didn't know he was capable of producing an album so musically and vocally diverse and so full of emotion, and I'm a big fan of the debut. "All My Friends", "Someone Great" and "Get Innocuous!" are instantly remarkable, and the rest of the album holds up awesomely as well.

It definitely deserves the 89 rating at metacritic right now!

I saw these guys in concert, and I'm sorry, but they sucked. They sped up my favorite song of theirs (Daft Punk Is Playing in My House), and it was just boring.

I am LOVING this album! I never really "got" the first one; I played it a few times, and afterwards just concentrated on 'Tribulations', which I really did like. From the first listen of this CD, though, I fell in love. THere is just so much going on in every single track that I've yet to lose attention. Plus, I think there was a definite leap in songwriting.

Favorite songs so far:

Get Innococious
Time to Get Away
Someone Great
All My Friends
New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down

But I really love the entire disc. Interestingly enough, it was the least anticipated new album of the year so far, and it's the one that I've loved the most so far.

Check on all counts. Huge leap in songwriting, although I did quite love the first album too. 2007 is shaping up to stomp all over 2006 already.

Where are your friends tonight?
Where are your friends tonight?

If I could see all my friends tonight,
If I could see all my friends tonight,
If I could see all my friends tonight,
If I could see all my friends tonight

I love this song!

I love this song!

YES! One of the most instantly stunning songs I've heard in awhile. I wasn't expecting that kind of emotional depth, especially presented as it is musically. It's like a mixture of New Order, U2's sweeping epics and Bowie's "Teenage Wildlife" or something. Truly superb.

"Someone Great" reminds me of an early 80s moody, beautiful synth masterpiece. Again, more impressive emotional output.

"Get Innocuous!" is like Kraftwerk's "The Robots" bathed in viscuous, liquid metal. "You. Can. Normalize!"

Unreal!

I have been reading a lot of good reviews of this though. Is it still pretty much a solo effort?

He writes all of the songs and plays many of the instruments, but there are some other musicians on the album too.

Nope, one CD. 9 songs. Much easier to get into than the last record.

The closing ballad "New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down" shocked me as well- full out piano/power ballad excess!

It's jumped up to a score of 90 on metacritic after 33 reviews. That probably puts it as head of the class of 2007 so far.

i haven't quite bonded with song titles so far, but my favorites so far are the first and last tracks. the first song on the album sounds like bowie mixed with giorgio moroder. bow

I saw them live before I'd ever heard them, and I had the same reaction. It was one of the most unfunky, insufferably smug shows ever. I couldn't get into that last album at all after that. This new one has me reconsidering ... cool

Thanks, Moonbeam! woot!

This CD is so good! My first thought is it is slightly reminiscent of old Bowie!

I am REALLY liking this.... would love to see 'em live!
