Help - Chaka and Siedah

Can someone help settle a "disagreement" my husband and I are having?

He's a big fan of Siedah Garrett. Whenever we listen to Quincy Jones "Back on the Block" we can never agree on who's singing what vocals on the song "the places you find love". He thinks Siedah does the majority of the vocals and I say Chaka does. Can anyone settle this for us? If it's even, can you tell me what part of the song Siedah sings on? We have another "disagreement" about who's the better singer too biggrin

The person sining on the track is Siedah. As for who is the better singer, I would say Chaka. This does not mean that Siedah, cannot blow but she is a better writer. She also wrote "Tomorrow", which is on that album. Let's not forget MJ's, "Man in the Mirror". Great tracks.

Actually, I think shorttrini is only half right. As I recall, Siedah sings the majority of the song (along with a huge choir during the choruses). BUT Chaka does sing at least a verse, if not more. I wore that CD out (along with the liner notes) back in high school, so I knew it quite well (still one of my favorites). I'm pretty certain that Chaka is on that song -- just not singing as much as you thought. I'll grab it at lunch and give it a listen to verify. I'm a big Chaka fan, so I can usually pick out her voice pretty easily.

Hello,

One of my favorite songs as well and your husband is correct.

Siedah begins the song... after the first chorus, the second verse is Chaka, starting with..."it's a river, never stoppin', winding in and out u should never doubt it will lead u to the ocean someday, there's now way to fight it, let it carry u away. Everybody's dreamin', waiting for the feeling, for the moment when they finally rise above, it's always in the given that gets u to the places then u find love" - (lol) something like that.

Anyway, the rest of the song is Siedah, Chaka may be blended with the chorus but it's Siedah's vocal in the forefront.

Of course edited, the video... found here http://www.hotget.com/vid...9fe5c420da
pretty much showcase the flow to the end.

Paix!

Thanks deepblitz. I guess I'll have to admit that my husband is right. Oh the horror wink

Siedah i dont think has a strong voice but she can sing well. She was a bad replacement for Niki Haris on the RIT.
