Do Any Of You Recommend 'Disintegration' By The Cure? This album has gotten quite alot of praise throughout the years and the kids from South Park say that it is the greatest album ever made(alright, that is not meant to be taken seriously I suppose). I have heard the 30 second samples from this album and it all sounds rather beautiful and mysterious in many ways. It seems to be one of the most beloved and best made records from the 80s according to many people out there. Does this album deserve its classic status or not, in your opinions?

There are many different flavors of the Cure and every fan probably has their favorite. Disintegration is probably in every cure fans top 3. It's considered their quintesential album in terms of sound and their career. But more so the songs are really well crafted and the album flows wonderfully. There is a certian mood that they capture that other albums before it hadn't. I think it's a classic album among all albums. I don't think they knew it was going to be received as well as it was. Indeed it is. In fact I'll even go as far as saying that it may possibly be the best thing they've ever done. But I know I'm gonna get some heat for that. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

At this point, you might as well wait for the remastered version (or the deluxe version). It should be out some time this year.
It's right up there with their best work. I don't know if I can decide between Disintegration and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me as my favorite. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Not my #1 Cure record, but definitely in my top 3. Highly recommended.

Definitely one of my all-time favorite albums. I like the single versions of all the singles better than the album versions, though. The single mixes are great.

I kinda like the Cure (really like Head on the Door and the singles collection)...and I don't like Disintegration. It's too in love with its own own morose self

If you just broke up with someone you still love, dig this one. It is one of the tops.

It really is one of the greatest albums ever. The remaster will be coming soon, but it's worth having in multiple formats. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

That record just sounds inevitably better when you're still under 25.

too true...but it's still good for remeniscing that time in your life... i absolutely recommend disintegration. it's the pinnacle of the cure's catalog, in my opinion...they nearly hit with kiss me, disintegration peaks, wish is slightly less perfect than kiss me, (i ignore wild mood swings all together, can anybody sell me on this album?) bloodflowers is mediocre at best and the self-titled album is entirely unlistenable (i can't believe they would even release that crap).

Personally I prefer the incarnation of The Cure that started with "Disintegration" and has continued to this day. Those albums just work better for me, with the exception of "Pornography". I was never big on "The Head On The Door" for example.

That kinda surprises me actually. Well, it might be just the fact that they appeal to mah nordic character more. They're quite melancholic and resemble finnish / swedish music more (not that I care of the indigenous music of these areas that much, but you can easily sense the same feel in them). I like "Letter To Elise", "Jupiter Crash" or "Out Of This World", that kind of stuff. Simple songs for simple-minded people. I could care less about something like "Shake Dog Shake" to be honest.
