WHITNEY, BRITNEY, and the like....

Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, etc....

i read an article and have sen a couple news bits about "comebacks" and who's most likely to do it so i'm just curious to know everyonje's opinions about their comebacks. or other down and out singers who despite their downfalls still are big names. do you think they can do it? who's most likely to? who's truly over? not who you would like to see come back necessarily but who do you think would have the best chance at recapturing their hype spotlight.

Whitney, Michael and Janet....too old considering you're considered too old at 25.

Britney....not talented enough.

I heard that Whitney is back in the studio, recording seven new songs that Clive Davis picked for her. She'll be doing songs written/produced by John Legend,Diane Warren,Ne-Yo and R.Kelly neutral

She's also doing a song written and produced by Johnta Austin, who produced Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together".

I'd say Whitney and Britney can do it. And Janet has a shot, but I just don't think she's going to put forth the effort. She's been coasting for the entire decade now.

MJ? Put a fork in him, he's well-done. He's just got too much weirdness surrounding him constantly. And at this point, he and his camp have put so much hype into Thriller being the biggest baddest thing in pop music in the last 30 years, let alone the press and the public, that any and everything is going to be seen as a disappointment. It doesn't help that he keeps trying to top himself each time, instead of just putting out some good music.

I would say Michael and Whitney. Whitney because she has that voice and if she got enough good publicity until her new LP arrives, she'll be ok.

As for MJ, through it all, he's still Michael Jackson. Even what's happened through in the past, he has a STRONG fanbase that supports him. If he got his stuff together and did it right this time, he'll be successful. Not as big as he once was, but he'll be fine.

Michael Jackson has the best change of a comeback. Did you see that Japan frenzy? OMG! He is still as popular ever. For everyone that hates him, for every negative comment he gets, there are 100 people that like him and 100 positive comments.

(As another poster called her)...Shitney Houston has lost her voice. The crack used it up. I wouldn't watch her anyway. I used to think she had so much class. She was beautiful, and her voice gave me chills. I made the mistake of watching "Being Bobby Brown" twice. That was it. I put her and Brit (although Brit never had a voice to begin with) in the same catagory. Trash. Not worth my time or money.

I wish Janet would put out something different than mainstream pop. And I might watch Michael. Fix his face....come back with a bang. Who knows?

i could care less about Britney.

I'll still be watching out for Whitney and Michael just to see, and as for Janet, well, she failed at a comeback with 20 YO, but we'll see what happens next.

I think I read the same article, and they cited Chistina Aguilera having a "downfall" with STripped, even though it's her highest selling album worldwide. Oddball journalists.

I think the only true popstars currently are Madonna and Kylie.

Also the US hasn't produced good pop music since the 80's. Hip-Hop destroyed pop in the US.

If you're talking dance-pop, then it's true.

Whitney will be fine!
As long as her album has some good songs on it i can see her making a comeback. Sure she will never be as big as she was 15-20 years ago, but so what, she;s been there and done that. She'll be fine

Talent-wise, I rate them about the same. Neither of them can sing, neither are good songwriters, and they're both good (but not excellent) dancers.

It's slightly less easy to forgive Madonna, though - after 20 odd years in the business, I would have had the decency to learn how to sing by now. That Live 8 monstrosity was embarassing - she sounded like a farmer calling for her cows. disbelief

Whitney could do it, if she's still got the voice. Britney could maybe, she's still young.
