if you ever get a chance to catch Editors, check them out... they are similar stylistically but I think they have more potential long-term. They have a knack for great songs. And awesome b-sides, which is always cool biggrin

i believe with the great reviews that their new album is getting and their debut album already a classic...arcade fire have become the most important group of the decade...critically acclaimed and now about to go huge on both sides of the atlantic commercially with the new album 'neon bible' ...i cant see any other group having the same impact at the moment..

Yanno Arcade Fire is good but they're not all that...K-os is way better than Arcade Fire. And there are others that are better too.

The thing is that every year there is the quote "Band of the Decade" or "Worlds greatest band", everyone has had this title from Radiohead, the White Stripes,Coldplay,Keane etc.. But none of them have done anything to prove it long term, all were very overrated, lets see where they are at 10 albums in the game, if they can get to that point. In the 90's it was Nirvana this and Nirvana that, talk about overrated!

I think this is a short list of the bands to consider.

This is easily the most boring decade ever. sigh

nah. we're just older now and far harder to impress. if you were 16, these bands would be very exciting to you. and that's not saying they are teeny-bopper bands or anything, its just that they aren't anything we haven't seen before.

i mean, my mom didn't get excited by prince because she'd already seen little richard, marvin gaye, and james brown (not to mention earth wind and fire).

I'm probably one of the few weirdos that hated 'em starting out but now think they're getting better.

I hated them so much starting out that I avoid them completely. They may be getting better, but that's not a risk I'm willing to take. lol

I think it's somewhere in between - getting older and a lack of new ideas.

Yawn. Seriously, AF is a good band, but I feel that they are wholly overrated.

They're the band that hipster wannabees name drop to indicate their love-of-indie-rock credentials. Doesn't make them a bad band, but the critical acclaim is almost tiresome. There are many other bands, equally good or better.

there's really nothing new about them, except that they have an idiot-bandmember who is wearing a helmet to which he is drumming with his drumsticks.....

that irritated me when I saw them live, but almost everything about their live show bothered me, frankly. It was so overblown - every gesture, every strum, from the pounding on the helmet to the violinist's exagerated dance at the beginning of Haiti, was melodramatic. I was really trying to like them up to that point, but the gig I saw tipped the scales firmly in the other direction.

I don't think they're a bad band - more than enough people whose opinions I respect like them, so I'm willing to believe that the praise thrown their way is warranted. I just can't stand the things they're good at.

Romeoblu

The most important band of the 00's has to be Chromeo.

Arcade Fire are great and Neon Bible does remind me alot of Springsteen.

Listen to Keep The Car Running, Intervention, AntiChrist Televison Blues.

No Cars GO is the dog Bollocks.

Great album which I prefer to Funeral and I think will be one of my Favorite albums of the Decade.

"No Cars Go" is so majestic. Sublime perfection. That and "My Body Is a Cage" form a wicked 1-2 punch to close out the album.
