Artists U think have "Staying Power"

Well lets see how many people weigh in on this subject. Basically pick artists that have basically just started, maybe a couple of albums under their belt, artists that you think have the ability, the talent, the drive, the creativeness, to still be around 15 years from now. I would say limit this to artists that came out no earlier than 2000. Post your artists, reasons u think, pictures whatever you want, im curious to see what different orgers feel on this subject. It doesnt have to be artists that u like, and u can state that too. Lets try not to bash others picks but more or less learn from them

Peace
I'll post mine as soon as a few weigh in

I think Alicia Keys has staying power.
She's popular, but she has talent as well. Plus she keeps a
bit of mystery about her personal life to prevent being overexposed.
I think she's pretty cool although she's not a org favorite lol

If you will, so will I

Just a few from my list of recent artists

John Legend- Not crazy about his work yet but im slowly getting into him more and more.

Van Hunt- I think he has a chance to be very prolific on an indie label, similar to the way Ryan Adams and Jeff Gaines have done. Forget the labels.

John Mayer- though his early work doesnt grab me, he's improving since he put the TRL crowd behind him.

Norah Jones- No doubt has the ability and respect already from tons of veterans in the business that she will be around for awhile

Teedra Moses,Rashaan Patterson,Dwele- to me they are all in the same boat, they need to keep true to themselves DONT sell out.

Joss Stone- Though many dont dig her on the org, i do, i just think its freakin great that a 19-20 year old even knows Dusty Springfield and Donny Hathaway. She still needs to find her "nitch" that is true, but shit we all thought the same of Lennny when he came out in 1989 and hes still doing it and people are being compared to him. Be prepared for some changes in direction from Joss.

Alicia Keys- i think Alicia has alot of respect from veterans in the industry too, when you got Stevie and Prince in your corner, you cant go wrong. As long as she grows musically, steps away from trends, keeps playing music herself, she will be here for awhile.

Katharine McPhee- I figured i would throw an American Idol on there. I like this girl, i dont watch the show because i dont like reality and talent shows, but i did see clips of her and have heard her singing and her voice and she hit me the way Mariah did back in 1990. I think Katharine can go just as long, unless she lets them promote her and not her "voice".

Nicole Scherzinger-Leader of Edens Crush and now PCD, she will branch out solo this summer and then return to the group in late 2007. I think Nicole has a very unique vocal style, to me she can sing Pop,Rb,Ballads,Jazz or standards, i dont think we have seen a quarter of what she can/will do.

a sneak peek at the new Joss

All the artists I like from this decade seem to be the type that will burn out after a good 5-8 years.

People will really be surprised with Joss, and i guarantee people that dont like her will suddenly be in her corner. She expressed her issues with the label and the direction they wanted to push her , basically "mainstream" rb/pop, Joss threatened to walk off the label and quit, but she got what she wanted, one she wrote the record mostly herself, two she got Raphael Sadiq whom she wanted and also guest appearances from Common and Lauryn Hill, yes suddenly the appearance of Lauryn on a track called "Music". The album hits March 20th, she has been playing some local/smaller surprise gigs, recently at the House of Blues in LA and soon she will be in NYC.

Good info. I didn't know her album was coming out that soon!

AOL has a listening station up for two full songs and two samples from the album.
