Who Remembers Georgio?

Man, who remembers Georgio? I don't wanna call him a Prince "wannabe" because he was a "pretty boy" with a semi-funky, quasi hit song called Tina Cherry, but i guess the public rejected him for the "real thing." Wonder what he's up to these days. At least Andre found success with Jody.

I remember him. I bought the debut album and even another called 'ROllin' from 1991. His funkiest track had to be 'bedrock'. I saw a pic that SHELLANSWERMAN posted on this site recently. It was of Brownmark and otehrs in the studio. There was this skinny guy who I thought looked like Georgio. I was right as confirmed by the Shellanswerman. I never knew what became of him though.

As per previous threads about him a few months ago, we determined he "became" and actor. Unfortunately, his movies have all been those ones that go straight to video!

Maybe those that know specifics will post again. Meanwhile, I agree. I liked the guy and thought he had some talent. At least he knew who to copy!

I believe it was called Tapped Out or something like that.

It seems that a Georgio thread pops up every few months lol

Anyways....did you guys know that he almost became a Prince protege? I recall a 1987 Black Beat interview where he talked about how he almost signed to Paisley Park Records. In 1985,his demo tape made it to Prince, who was eager to sign him.But according to Georgio,it wasn't a good deal because Prince wasn't willing to give him creative freedom."He and BrownMark wanted to take all the credit for writing and producing my album. Now I understand how Prince's organization works. He finds people who would do anything to become a star.I'm not one of those people".

I remember Georgio. He first album was great and I miss it. I only had it on a cassette and the damn thing got tangled up in the cassette player in my car....back when the album was popular. Serves me right for buying a damn cassette anyway. lol

I remember him. I thought he was just another Prince wannabe too. He had a nice lil hit with "I don't Wanna be Alone" That was an excellent song. And then that was the last I heard of ol' boy.
Remember that song "Sex Appeal"? ew

The first album was hot. Then I heard the first single from the second album which was a ballad and I thought, "What the hell is this crap? Where's the funk???" That slow first single took away all his momentum, although the fact that funk was dying at the time didn't help much either.

I remember that first single from the second album. When I heard it, I said "HELL NAW" and didn't even think about buying the album. Wasn't it some midtempo bullshit called "Rollin"?

It was a slow jam called "I Don't Want 2 Be Alone". Because that was the first single, I didn't make getting his second album a priority and eventually never bought it--even though I listened to his first record a lot.
