Inside Story By Grace Jones

I've had this cd for a few years but could never get past the first track "i'm not perfect but i'm perfect for you" which is the bomb. I always thought the rest of the cd was wack and weak. This weekend I decided to give it yet another chance and now I actually like it. Hollywood liar and Party girl are cool songs. I still think there are some duds like Victor was a jazz musician. Even Chan hitchhikes to shanghai has kinda grown on me in a strange way.

Anyone else like or dislike this cd?

Her worst album. BUT i love the cover lol And "Victor should have been a jazz musician" is a great title, even if the song is not...

i bought the album (not the cd) when it came out and lost it years ago...but i remember i enjoyed the album a lot...especially party girl...
she made a cd single years after that, i believe it was "sexdrive"..i always thought it fitted her very well and its a pitty she didn't explore that kind of music further...well, she didn't explore any kind of music after that one did she? neutral

The problem isn't so much the song 'Victor Should Have Been A Jazz Musician', it's the fact that Grace Jones is singing 'Victor Should Have Been A Jazz Musician'. So much good material has been wasted on her voice. And I'm a minor fan.

That's why I think 'Slave To The Rhythm' worked so much better for her. Trevor Horn tends to make concept music that seems to overshadow the artist. Jones is perfect for that type of experimental stuff. But a straightforward pop album like 'Inside Story', she could never pull off.

I utterly adore the long versions on the double disc Private Life: The Compass Point Sessions.

It's the right era, and the long versions are amazing. Go check it out.

I love this cd, and release got the cd after years of having it on cassette. I liked each of the tracks, though the title track was always my least favorite.

i know what you mean, i really thought this album was the pits for so long. it's hard for me to say that too because grace jones is my fave artists of all time but i just got into this cd this past weekend. it's not her strongest cd but it's not too bad either. i think her last cd was worse than this one. confused

One of my most enjoyable albums.

I add her to the list of artists I'd wish put out something new. It's been too long since we heard something new from Grace.
