I'm partial to "Opposites Attract" and "Cold Hearted", but those other 2 just about round up the only Paula songs I still like.

You've changed your tune LOL. I did a thread on the album "forever your girl" ages ago and you blasted it. I like "i need you". Jesse Johnson musta been set up for lfe after that pay cheque. I always find it odd how a sex solo is used instead of a guitar one.

The Oliver leiber cuts (son of leiber of Leiber and stoller fame) have St paul on them.

And "state of attraction" is the other cut I play most

No, I didn't blast it. We had a debate about whether or not it was better than Control, and I said it wasn't lol

Good thing about Paula's "Forever your girl" is that its not trying to be like "control". The minni sound is not really present on that album. I read a reviewer saying "the way that you love me" is a jam/lewis ripoff, but I don't hear it. Iam pretty sure Oliver Leiber is from Minni though.

Oh, yes. We had a debate about that, too. I said it was definitely ripping on Control, you said (natch) it wasn't. lol

I still don't hear the jam/lewis influence on "forever your girl". I always think "this time" is a Paula ripoff. Good song mind you..

It sounds more like something the family stand would produce for her, not jam/lewis.

I still really like Straight Up. I remember thinking the first time I heard it on the radio that it had a different sound. There really was something unique about it (and I'm not talking about her voice lol) that worked in its favor.

My go-to Paula song was always 'Cold Hearted', but I do have a soft spot for almost everything on her first album (save 'Next to You'). There is also some good shit on "Spellbound". Hell, I also really liked 'My Love is For Real' and 'Crazy Cool' from "Head Over Heels.

I used to like Paula lots back in Elementary/Middle School. shrug lol
