I had the BIGGEST crush on her. When they killed her character off in "Fame"... sad

they KILLED a character on Fame?! didn't know that. Must've been a car accident or something. Nia was a hottie. Yall know she was married to Howard Hewitt of Shalamar fame. Janet influenced all the female soloists who were contemporaries or who came after her in some way.

Yup - Nia's character, Nicole, was killed in a car accident. The producers wanted to make it a special "don't drive drunk" episode...

Leroy died too.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Yeah, Leroy was cool. Talented. I love the first
episodes of Fame. Actually they were written really
well. I purchased the box set DVD of the first
season. It is quite good!

Remember when Nia was in Prince's Rasberry Beret video? I wonder if they ever had "a thing"?

i always felt that her ethnicity had something to do with her not becoming huge...she had the look, dance and could actually sing but totally got nowhere...

but then it could have been that her album only had three good songs on it.

lol

thanks tony for the heads up on this thread...

thumbs up!

All good!!!

TBH, Nia would have been perfect with The Pussycat Dolls. Her ethnicity would have been a plus like Nicole.

This is her best song. Its very rhythm syndicate, and with good reason.

Thats "kissing the wind". Produced by Howard Hewitt and Nia. Iam surprised at Howard for producing this. Its off the same album as "street of dreams". Makes for an interesting pop album.

Song is more Martika then Madonna though.

Nah, i mean second album Martika. You know, "martika's kitchen". Still Martika's first album has a couple of OK tracks.

She was on one of those VH1 "Where Are They Now?" shows a few years ago and she stated that she didn't like the way the record company was positioning her, image and music-wise. It seemed like it wasn't the most fulfilling experience.
