I need to take you back to the old-school of SAW's pre-Kylie era:

Princess - Say I'm Your Number One

http://www.youtube.com/wa...7XGMKqgTRw

Now that's 80's R&B. You never figure that SAW had just as much funk & soul! wink

And don't forget about my dog, Rick Astley. One of the best blue-eye soul men of all times (only Michael McDonald is better).

Agreed. They were the fucking worst. Their songs had no bite to them at all. Their drums were puny and weak.

According to Roger Linn, the first purchasers of the LM-1 were Leon Russell, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder, Boz Scaggs, Peter Gabriel and Daryl Dragon.

Leon is a prolific songwriter and recording artist. I like him most behind the scenes. Probably best known to most folk here as the writer and original recording artist of songs like A Song for You and This Masquerade. tA, I'm sure, can give you more specifics. I'm not all that familiar with his album work. Check his bio at allmusic: http://www.allmusic.com/c...qr5ldke~T1

That said, I had no idea he ever used drum machines. Odd.

Not sure what he used them on either but according to Roger Linn (who at one time was a guitarist with Leon) he had one.

Just recently acquired these 2...

...Leon Russell discs.

Once i've got some time to listen to them, i'll see if I can spot the machine anywhere.

Great songwriter. 2 of my favorites by him are Tightrope and Hummingbird.
(hmmm probably deserves a thread of his own)

There's nothing weak about THIS classic Kylie album, produced by SAW.

1. "Better The Devil You Know" - (Stock, Aitken, Waterman)
2. "Step Back In Time" - (Stock, Aitken, Waterman)
3. "What Do I Have to Do?" - (Stock, Aitken, Waterman)

4. "Secrets" - (Stock, Aitken, Waterman)
5. "Always Find The Time" - (Stock, Aitken, Waterman, James)
6. "The World Still Turns" - (Minogue, Michael Jay, Mark Leggett)
7. "Shocked" - (Stock, Aitken, Waterman, Jazzi P.)
8. "One Boy Girl" - (Minogue, Willie Wilcox)
9. "Things Can Only Get Better" - (Stock, Aitken, Waterman, Riley)
10. "Count The Days" - (Minogue, Bray)
11. "Rhythm Of Love" - (Minogue, Bray, Riley)

Riley? Is that as in Teddy Riley? I do own "better the devil you know" off an obscure soundtrack, and actually, S.A.W finially caught up a bit with the times as the production on that one wasn't too bad. So maybe that album ain't that bad either? I presume "jay" is as in michael Jay, and "bray" as in stephen bray? I guess she wanted a few american producers/songwriters on board aswell?

If you want a good pop producer back in those days, go for Maurice Starr or the Milli vanilli bloke. Both ran rings around S.A.W.
