Recommend me some uptempo dance/club artists I tend more towards funk than house....so please something 70's or 80's that gets things going on the dancefloor but is kind of obscure.

Have you ever heard this song? http://www.youtube.com/wa...m3MXDS_wNg
It's from the mid 80s--kinda obscure dance funk-rock. I love it.

You're right though, I would have to stop completely somewhere around 1994 or 1995 when house music turned to techno, acid, trance, or whatever the hell it's called. Andy is a four letter word.

This technically doesn't fit the bill as it is from 2004, but I'll be damned if it doesn't sound straight out of 1983. I'll also be damned if it doesn't become one of vainandy's favorite songs of the decade- not that there's much competition!

I just bought a CD by Divine. It's not bad but I was expecting a little more. Every heard of Bobby O. He is the producer and also a singer. Actually, I was just on Ebay and there is this guy (or girl, not sure) that is selling quite Cds by slightly obscure dance artists.
Here is the address. http://search.ebay.com/_W...ityQ2dbeat [Edited 12/21/06 14:22pm]

The band: Chromeo The awesomeness: Needy Girl Usually Youtube is blocked on our computers at work but apparently they haven't paid their bill for the blocks and everything is working today. That song sounded damn good! That's what I like about the org. I'll be looking for that one in the record store. Thanks! Andy is a four letter word.

The whole album is rich in funk, although nothing can touch "Needy Girl". Also check out You're So Gangsta, another delicious slice of electrofunk. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! The CD that I tried to buy had material buy SAW, which is a little bit slicker but more accessible. The Bobby O songs are more about him than Divine as an kind of performer.
