If you don't have it already, you might want to check out the Bootsy "Live In Japan" (1993) dvd. I believe it was in Kawasaki,the crowd was hyped, and it has the best version of "I'd Rather Be With You" that I've ever heard in my life. He and Bernie recreated a gem, and made it a Masterpiece. Bootsy has this wicked stomp box (does crazy things with octaves), I used to know the name of the piece, but it's been TOO long. Anyway the moment is magical, and pure. To see two musicians love and respect for each other is a beautiful thing. As for the "kodak moment", the piece itself is one for the ages.

The only downfall of this concert was there was no horn section.

I guess Brass would have been ok. I think Bernie covered any "aural" gaps without the Horns. I think the key here was that big plate of distortion the Booted One unleashes. It just seems right to me.....in lieu of Mr. Brown's passing. The sound of the dvd is much better than shown. Then again maybe I'm a bit melancholy about his Death, or I've just played this track too many times. And I'm in agreement with you, the Show was on point
