It is, the origins of hip hop came from the ghetto in the early 70s of new York. It was more than music it was a subculture such as grafitti, breaking and the fashions.
But still rap goes back to jive talk of the 30s, is in doo wop songs of the 50s(In those days gangs tried to out wop each other, by improvising doo wop lyrics on the spot, the losers got wopped!!! And before that you have the rap speaking of West African Griots, bought across in the slavery days. Also Hip hop was a response to the bleak and marginalised experiences that many innner city African Americans had to go through. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

Are you upset becuase what I said is the truth? Let me tell you something, I have dated just about every race under the sun, and half my relationships have been with people that I am different from, ethnically speaking (I say "people that I am different from, not people who are different from me, to put a different perspective on it.)

Where do you think Kraftwerk got their sound from?
Take one of the most popular and influential hip-hop songs ever created, "Planet Rock" - it owes its existance to a Kraftwerk song. Then, there's the most famous of all, "Walk This Way", which was originally written by Aerosmith. At best, music is and should be color blind. Please don't tell me the usual "white people ripped it off response", cuz that's too played.

Kinda my point - white people take from black music, and black people take from latin music, and so on and so forth. And it all originates from God - what color is God?

He STOLE from black artists....do you not remember "race records"? It does all originate from God but God first placed the vision in a people so give credit to those God blessed with the vision. Black and Latin kids from the Bronx doin' the damn thing...

this guy is just confused. he fails to understand that rock grew mostly out of gospel, blues, and jazz... so even if hip hop took some from tings from rock... rock got it from 'black' music.
look at Led Zeppelin... most of their sound is directly influenced from the like of willy Dixon and his contemporaries.

Gosh, ya'll mofo's need to get a life. I say one thing like this about hip hop music (and I still claim it's a rip off of other styles). Well, now I'm gonna add to it, and see how much more offended you get. Hip hop music is homophobic - just ask the poor fellows who got in the middle of Pink Sunday's happenings during SF Gay Pride this year. A gang of hip-hop thug girls beat up a drag queen just for being a drag queen, and it only escalated from there. And to top it off, I heard someone reference a 50-Cent line as a justification. Need I say more?

Good, glad that ya'll are starting to see that I'm right.
See, I love yanking the chains of people who chat online, and saying things that I know will flip them out. And ya'll bought into that one hook, line and sinker. If you tell me I have no life for doing it, consider this fact: You have no life, too. After all, you responded to my comment. And I still can't stand hip hop music, for it is sucking all the fun out of the room.
