Mara said: I have this single. I really enjoyed this era of Cube. You know how we do it (the original and remix) are classics! "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

True ... but answer me this: why did it all go so very wrong afterwards? Was it the crap movies or did he run out of things to say other than "I started this gangsta shit/And this the muthafukkin' thanks I get?" There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

For some reason, Mara, you caught my wavelength because I was listening to "Bop Gun (One Nation)" and Camp Lo this month too.

I remember after this single he had an atrocious single called "Li'l Ass Gee" which was WACK. Then when East Coast materialist/playa rap came into vogue in the late 90s thanks to Biggie, Bad Boy and Puff Daddy, that's when he switched up and got all hustlerish with "We Be Clubbin'." He had some flashes of hotness on the Westside Connection Bow Down album but his solo material just plain sucked after '93. When you're working with KoRn and vying for sales from their fans, you've gotten bottom barrell.

I stopped purchasing his albums after Bootlegs & B-Sides. Lil Ass G was a wack song and to answer another question, he started to branch into other areas of entertainment (movies) and his lyrics suffered.
Althoug I did not agree with 90% of what he was saying, it was some of the most biting social commentary (AmeriKKa's MOst Wanted, Death Certificate-My favorite, and The Predator). "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

He lost me half-way through Lethal Injection, most of which was dull. That said, I've carried on buying his stuff (a prolific THREE CDs of original material in twelve years) in the hope that I'll hear some of the old magic again, but he's pulling the same old rabbits out of the same old hats ... There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently
