Hip Hop music is not an original Black art form...

I am not being racist by saying this, I am just stating the truth. Hip hop needs rock and other influences to survive, in fact.

Take one of the most popular and influential hip-hop songs ever created, "Planet Rock" - it owes its existance to a Kraftwerk song. Then, there's the most famous of all, "Walk This Way", which was originally written by Aerosmith.

At best, music is and should be color blind.

and yet rock comes from.... lol Maybe the genius is that you had some kids from the hood using all forms of music to make a new genre of music. Why take it away from the black and latino kids that DID start something? Hip Hop isn't just music anyway. Its art, music, dance, graffiti, etc.

color blindness is a way not to see. I reject the notion of being color blind. why is it that I can recognize the beauty of the rose and no one will come to the defense of the lilly. Because all are beautiful so there's NO need to be color blind. Appreciate it for what it is. That's like not seeing all of me. take one thing away, I'm not Rhondab. See me. Thanks smile

Where do you think Kraftwerk got their sound from?

I swear it's Org break time. Between the ignorance here, the GD forum and P&R, my brain is turning to mush.

Yeah, I think you do need a break. This site is making you more and more self-righteous and preachy.

As per my self-righteous attitude, I don't converse with people who don't have the balls to either post as themselves or let people know who they are. So, next. biggrin

That would be true only if Planet Rock was the first Hip Hop song ever. But it wasn't.

Ralf Hutter (the band leader of Kraftwerk) even acknowledge James Brown as his main influence as far as rhythm is concern!

research the history of rock... it came out of what? blues and jazz... of course music is universal and was discovered independently (drums and various string and wind instruments were all discovered independently of each other...)

there would have been no Bill Haley and his Comets with out Robert Jhonson... no Doors with out Willie Dixon

Raajput

Wasnt the whole thing influenced by JB's ad libbing and ad hoc rapping and improvisation and then ppl like Isaac Hayes used it as parts of a song whilst he sung the hook!

Move on a bit and you had the whole disco thing, and Chic's brand of funk was at the foefront and its from their baselines that rappers delight came about.

The disco thing was also part driven by Latin roots/rhythms

Am i right??
