Oh man,I forgot about that jam!! That's one that I don't have. I love the performances and all but the main reason I was enjoying the old episode was for the dancers and the jams of the day that I might have forgotten. They played one by The Whispers that I don't have either during the Soul Train Scramble Board. I would love to see someone stand at the board throughout the entire song and not figure out the answer to the scrambled letters. I wonder if that ever happened. . . I saw it last weekend also. The episode was from 1986. I may record next week's episode over it because it was downright depressing. All the songs they played last week were good songs but 99% of them were pop songs. I hope y'all saw the episode because it just proves my point that the downfall of R&B started in 1985 with everyone trying to crossover. Andy is a four letter word.

That Al Green episode was great, even with a fractured arm he killed it.

Thanks for bumping this up. I attempted to look for it, but gave up. I agree, that Al Green appearance was one for the ages.

I just read on IMDB that this week's classic Soul Train will feature an episode with Sister Slege and Blue Magic and next week's classic Episode will feature Patrice Rushen and The Sugarhill Gang. I can't wait for these

This week's Classic Soul Train will have AWB and The Undisputed Truth, I'm guessin this one is from 1975,1976, or 1977
Next week's is the one I've been waiting for though, it will feature the KING OF PUNK FUNK!!! Rick James and The SOS Band. I got my DVD set already for that episode! [Edited 1/29/07 22:39pm]

It was in 1981 when he was first getting big off of his "Street Songs" album. He performed several songs from the album. I can't remember if The Stone City Band performed a song or two of their's, that might have been another episode (Rick was on Soul Train many times). All the songs the dancers danced to were Rick James songs, past and current at the time. The Scramble Board answer was even Rick James. Damn, if VCRs had only been affordable back then.
