i have about 25 full tapes of soul train episodes.

Did you get them from AngelRicky? He has 10 volumes for sale (VHS):

http://www.angelfire.com/.../home.html

These tapes are now available on DVD.Same content as the video tapes.I was hoping that,by now, there would be more shows available.I want to see more shows from 1976-1979.

I have been collecting footage for over 22 years...I have pretty much every piece of funk/soul/70's footage thats circulating..

midnight special, the soul comp and soultrain.

don't forget to use a bunch of deoderant! cool
but you know what? I am feeling your posts on these topics and I am right behind ya with a ton of deoderant myself. razz

I have the very first episode. it is funny how they were trying to pop and do the rerund dances off motown music. but I have been waiting for the war episode. hopefully they will move to the eighties and give us some elektro funk. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw it at work. and it came on late that night and I was able to record it to dvd. no soultrain line in that one though for some reason. I wish they could have added the commercials that were from back then as well.

chewwsey please don't hurtem

I'm watching the WAR episode now - the "Why Can't We Be Friends" video is playing.

I'm actually enjoying Classic Soul Train. It's the first time I've watched it in years. As I kid, I remember practicing those dances in front of the TV.

What was the name of that asian dancer who was on for the longest time? She was in Rick James' "Super Freak" video?

It's on right now? Dammitt, once again, I'm at work. I was hoping I would get home before it started. I thought it came on in another hour.

That's alright, I'm off work next Saturday.

She was also at the beginning of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" video sitting on a stool. I think I saw her in Lionel Richie's "Running With The Night" video also.

eek

hey man, do you have a list of what you have on video?

i too am a 70 soul junkie and have recently started to look for any footage from that era ...because of the memories it brings back for me personally, and because I want to help capture and document that unique time in American culture...the footage is pretty rare and it needs and deserves to be preserved digitaly before its too late...

I have some 'clips' from a few randome 70's Soul Train shows but not the whole programs...

I'm also looking for any footage from the old NYC show "SOUL" that aired in the late 60's Early 70's on PBS i think...that show is another excellent Time Capsule that deserves digital documentation & preservation (some AMAZING rare live performances by several soul music heroes)...

anyway if you do have a list of what you have (even if its not for trade) let me know...i'd like to know whats out there that i'll need to hunt down smile

I finally got to see it last weekend and recorded it too. It was absolutely great. Both The Time and Patti LaBelle were great but my favorite was watching the dancers and hearing the songs of the era. No ignorant looking thug clothes and no shit hop all over the sound system. Just what ruled the era and should be ruling today's dead ass era.....FUNK!!!!!

I did some searching on the internet and saw that next week's episode is James Ingram and Levert from 1986. They are skipping too many years because next week they will be in the late 1980s.....yawn. I guess the week after that, they will be in the dull 1990s. Oh well, at least I got one good episode on tape.

I read on IMDB's TV listing's that this week's classic episode is from 1986 like you said Vainandy and next week's show is from 1974 with Al Green. I hope that listing is true, I only want to see classic Soul Train shows from the 70's and early to mid 80's. They better not put one of those 90's episodes on, that shit ain't old enough to be called classic yet!!!

Hell yeah! Now that's what I'm talkin' about. I'm not too thrilled with seeing the late 1980s episodes since there was less funk and more crossover bullshit, but I will watch them. However, unlike the earlier episodes, I would have to edit some of the bullshit out of my tape. And I sure as HELL don't want to see no damn 1990s episodes by no means. That's when the show became a disgrace to it's name and should have been cancelled. Keep it in the 1970s and EARLY 1980s only.
