Classic SOUL TRAIN is on TV

Watching Barry White today. Have they been showing these every week?

Who've they been showing recently?

I don't live in New York but I think I've seen the innitials CW on one of our channels when I was surfing. I wish I was at home so I could flip through the channels and look for it. I'll be looking for it next weekend and if the old "Soul Train" is on there, I'll be buying many blank tapes. lol

Yeah classic Soul Train comes on too here in Indianapolis CW. excited
Even if it is comes on at 2:00 am I will still be watching it. I am also going to buy some lot of vhs tapes but I am going to wait until they show the late 70s before start recording them.

Hot damn!!!! I am going to be looking for it. I don't care what time it comes on. Even if I'm not home, I'll set my VCR to record it. I want to see the late 70s and early 80s. Are they playing the full hour or are they reducing the episodes to 30 minutes like VH1 did with "American Bandstand"?

We definately have WGN but I thought they only had the new ones (which are a disgrace). What time does it come on?

This is part of the bulletin I got from Questlove on my Myspace page:

Check Your Local Listings, because during the weekend of 12/09/06 (December 9th, 2006), there will be a vintage episode of Soul Train replaying on US broadcast television!!!

This is your chance to get some episodes of Soul Train from the 70's and 80's (and hopefully, in its entirety) in DVD quality!

and during the weekend of the 9th, the replay will be episode number 79, with Barry White, Love Unlimited, and ALL of the Love Unlimited Orchestra; The Temprees; and Miss Lola Falana.

Make sure you record, because since Soul Train is not avaliable on DVD or VHS (yet?!), this is may be the only time you get to see REAL Soul in action! Who knows how long this will be going on!

PASS THE WORD TO ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS! EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE THIS!
IF YOU ARE TIRED OF THE BULLSHIT THEY CALL MUSIC ON TV THEN LET'S AT LEAST
TAKE STEPS TO SUPPORT THE PROGRAM THAT I PERSONALLY CREDIT TO EDUCATING ME
AS FAR AS MUSIC IS CONCERNED.

Oh so they aren't doing the first episode which was in 1971?

But hey I am not complaining though. I got to tell my mom about this because she has no idea and this would be a Christmas present for her.

I just checked my local listings and searched for "Soul Train" and the only thing that came up was the same times and channels that the new episodes come on. Are they airing the old ones in the regular time slot instead of the new ones?

Because regardless of where you are from if you pick up WGN you will still able to see the old episodes which you should see them on Saturdays at 2pm EST at least this month from what I heard. I don't know if they are going to continue to show the classics because I learned that they are currrently taping the new episodes and it won't be back until around January.

I think they should IMO because the new ones sucks.

Lets hope they are going to continue to show the classic when the new episodes come back in January. I am going to spread the word and you guys should too so they would continue to show the classics. But if they don't then I got my local CW to relied on.

OMG I saw this last night! This the best idea they ever had! The show has been boring for 15 years. I love that they are now showing the 1970's tv shows. cool

Yeah, I seen it. Very cool. Taping it like everybody else. U can't fuck with the 70's. You'll lose everytime. The music, the clothes, the performers, the magic. I have the dvd special of the history of Soul Train and it's off the hook. To see the innocence of the folks on there. No mad dogging, no thug looking, my ass just got out of the pin looking cats. The fashions were hella colorful and those dances! It's very fun and somewhat sad to watch. What the hell happened? Many times, I feel I'm a man, alone on an island.

Yeah, I caught it too. I loved seeing all the fashions and the dance moves...

And seeing Barry White was cool...whomever was on last week (some female rapper from St. Louis) was lip-synching and it sucked!

I heard that not next week, but the week after on December 23, they are going to show the one that featured the Time.

So apparently they are skipping around the years and overall I am glad to see it. I want to know once the new Soul Train episodes comes back in January (boo!!!) will they continue to show the old episodes? I hope that with a positive feedback of people preferred to see the old episodes that they are going to make room for the old ones as well on their schedule.

I didn't record it this week but I will start to next week.
