I'm gonna defend Hydrox. lol They're not generic. In fact, they were around before Oreos. The company that made them was bought by Keebler. Sadly, the Hydrox is no more. cry

I just remember that kids were looked "down on" in school if they brought Hydrox for lunch rather than Oreos. lol Not by me of course, but by the cool kids. I was the freak that brought carrot sticks and homemade yogurt to lunch. rolleyes

Well, ya know...your homemade yogurt brings all the boys to the yard. And they're like eek it's better than yours.

Oprah IS an oreo to an extent; not because 50 says so but because she has a problem with black men with backbones like Tavis Smiley.
50 is a coon. His minstrel show is just routine. He's trying to get the media to question Oprah about his comments, therefore drawing attention to him via her. He's as predictable as a Jeffersons rerun.

He knows that the children of Oprah's audience are who buys his records and he also knows that he gets cool points just by dissing people their parents' age. Oprah is not "cool" to the kids.

[Edited 12/1/06 1:40am]

That doesn't make Oprah an Orea anymore than it would if a white woman had issues with the same traits in white men.

It just makes them bitches. lol

lol

She's pretty subserviant to the white male dominated media machine that is out to dissolve the black family structure, so I'm gonna have to let that title stand.
If she got into a fight with Condoleeza over George W, all would be complete. lol

Oprah Winfrey is really an Oreo- Black on the outside White on the inside, according to 50 Cent. In the January issue of Elle, the rapper says Winfrey started out with black women's views but has been catering to middle-aged White American women for so long that she's become one herself. I think the idea of being publicly noted that she's a Billionaire makes{blackwomen} interested in seeing her views, but its even more exciting to the demographic of white American women she's been aiming at to see that she has the exact same views that they have....

this from the man who sells stereotypes while living in white neighborhoods, consuming white products, and who knows good and darn well that he's making his money primarily from white consumers. he's even worse than Oprah, by his own standards.

Using his own stupic analogy, isn't what Oprah does on her shows the outside of her? Why does he think he knows what she is on the inside?

Your actions define peoples' perceptions of you. 50 Cent is just as much of a coon as Oprah is an oreo but he never talks about selling a destructive image to the community and helping reinforce stereotypes initiated by the media. They are both guilty in my eyes. Oprah's humanitarian contributions don't change that, either.

How does catering to middle aged white american women
difer from catering to middle aged black american women?
What is it Oprah should be doing differently if
she wants to make her target audience black middle aged american women?

Geez, everyone's guilty it seems. rolleyes

I truly believe that Oprah uses her "power" in a positive way. What is she doing wrong? confuse I just don't see it. I think she's got a really great show that touches on countless subjects, whether they are frivolous, or about things that really matter in the world. Who cares who watches it and what her audience is? She's catering to PEOPLE. shrug Why should she limit herself?

I used to really dislike her show because I felt she was insincere, but lately she's really grown on me and I feel like she's really trying to help a lot of people. That's more than I can say for myself and many others.

When 50 opens a school for African children with his own millions..then he can comment...what an ashole

"them" being MCs or "them" being black entertainers?

I don't blame anyone for trying to make that money in America. As you say, it's how you do it. I have more problems with Jackson than Winfrey.

Oprah and Curtis nod It happens to be more obevious on Fitty than Harpo though.

I stand corrected on the "ALL" statement coz lawd knows there're many who don't try to "fit the bill" so to speak.

I agree, I think the only thing she's guilty of is bad taste (Tom Cruise & Julia Roberts) & maybe sheltering herself a bit.

But for 50 to essentially be saying that black people aren't into what Oprah is into (women's issues, child protection, comfy sweats, & John Travolta) sounds like he's generalizing too much.

John Travolta. falloff And anyone making the sort of money she does, isn't really living in the "real world" anymore, I can agree to that. lol I just don't see what the big deal is as far as what 10 cents is saying. rolleyes

As if he's anyone credible anyway. lol

A bit? Here's where her sheltered life and bad taste combine - she thinks Tyler Perry makes "transcendent" art.
