I'll bite even though I'm not too passionate about many of these.

1. Beatles or Elvis? I appreciate both, but I listen to The Beatles much more.
2. Prince or MJ? Used to be a huge MJ fan, but I've always liked Prince better. Put anyone up against Prince though and they'd lose.
3. Tina or Aretha? Tina.
4. Madonna or Janet? Madonna by a LONG shot. See the MJ vs. Prince thing. The same applies.
5. Queen Latifah or MC Lyte? Way Lyte
6. Backstreet or NSync? I'm nonplussed by both. NSync has better fast songs, Backstreet has better ballads.
7. Britney or Christina? Britney's last album was pretty cool.
8. James Brown or Sly Stone? I worship at the funky alter of James. I've never been too into Sly.
9. Earth Wind & Fire or Ohio Players? Parliament please.
10.TLC or Destiny's Child? I'd have to give this one an honest tie. I've enjoyed them both over the years.
11.Brandy or Monica? I like about 3 songs from each. Tie.
12.The Rolling Stones or The Beatles? The Beatles are more consistent songwriters, but The Stones are better performers by far. Plus, I think Mick's a better singer than either Paul or John and Keith comes up with the best hooks. This is a really tough one, but the edge goes to the Stones.
13.BIG or 2Pac? 2Pac's music has more meaning, but Big's got a sicker flow. I might have to go with Biggie.
14.Diddy or Kanye? They annoy and interest me in equal measure.
15.Metallica or Alice in Chains? As a 17 year old, I loved Alice In Chains. But I sold all their CD's shortly thereafter. Totally lost interest. Metallica I still can appreciate.

17.Whitney or Mariah? Ooh. They're both guilty pleasures for me. And I love their remix albums. I'd have to say Whitney though.

4. Madonna or Janet? I'm pretty indifferent to both, but I've enjoyed the odd Madonna single over the years, and I think I find her personality less irritating than Janet's.

5. Queen Latifah or MC Lyte? Queen Latifah by default, I suppose, but that's only because I've never heard of MC Lyte.

6. Backstreet or NSync? Backstreet - I think I Want it That Way is one of the best mainstream pop records of the past few decades - an absolutely perfect song. I don't think I know any other songs by either band, though.

7. Britney or Christina? Christina - Inconceivable that I'd ever listen to either of them, but I think Christina can be amazingly sexy at times, so she gets my shallow vote.

8. James Brown or Sly Stone? James Brown is the greater artist and possesses a weightier catalogue for sure, but I've listened to Sly Stone more and I think I generally get more pleasure out of his music.

9. Earth Wind & Fire or Ohio Players? EWF were one of the best pop bands of the seventies, I think. I don't really know the Ohio Players.

10.TLC or Destiny's Child? I'm pretty sure I've never heard either act - and I don't know what any of them look like (except for what's-her-name, of course), so I can't even do the shallow male thing and judge them by their looks, so let's call it a draw.

12.The Rolling Stones or The Beatles? Both are immortal and their finest moments are among the absolutely essential music of the last fifty years, but I love the Beatles more.
