One of my favorites. That song is the sh*t!! I love the bassline to this song. Its phat. Iheard this osng was originally recorded in 1973 but was released in 1978 because Stax record label kept it in the can because it shut down 2 years later and when it was first recorded the producers feel the song was going to be popular.

There was a thread on this song a few months ago. I told the story about my Pentacostal Pastor Father hearing it one day and saying "Hey! This song ain't about the Lord!

if you ever get a chance to hear the full version, the percussions at the end is out of this world, if one can get lucky to ever see their early 70's performances, you'll see where prince, and others were inspired to dress crazy, etc.....
the interesting thing about the barkays was the whole group (orignal members), died in that plane crash with the big o (otis redding), except the bass player james alexander (whom wasn't on the plane), and cauley the trumpet player (whom survived the crash)..... listening is the highest form of respect...

"Holy Ghost" was definately tight. We used the call the extended version "The Cramp" song, Why? They would always include it toward the end of mixes, so just as you "considered" sitting down, the DJ would cue this track up. This is actually the 2nd coming of the BK's (as I'm sure you already know). You should check out the BK's on the Wattstax film/soundtrack, there's a track titled "Son Of Shaft", lemme tell ya.....it get's no Funkier!
