A Major Disappointment Aaron Neville...
...Brint It on Home...The Soul Classics I figured with Chaka Khan & Mavis Staples guesting on 2 on the tunes there'd be some fire goin' on here. IMO, those 2 tracks (Let's Stay Together & Respect Yourself) were a waste of 2 dynamic vocalists. And for me it just got worse. The opening tune, Rainy Night in Georgia was pleasant enough, but it never got any better. Maybe this was supposed to be a Katrina-healing type record but it just didn't work for me. Has anyone else heard this release that has a different opinion? tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. I've heard it too, but can't comment too much as I've only heard it once. I do love his voice, but some of the songs seemed a wee bit too uninspired for my liking. I might buy it when I see it used and give it another try.

Sorry to say that I agree with Graycap.....his voice is unique, eccentric and has the quirkiness to be successful in the New Orleans culture, however it gets on my last nerve. I just can't handle his warbling..... "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive."

I like Aaron Neville, but I'm getting tired of covers albums. It seems like most old school artist are releasing albums like these and it's getting played out.

Add me to the list of Aaron-haters. I saw the Neville Brothers in '98 or so, and it was an absolutely brilliant show, ninety minutes of impossibly thick grooves...except when they stopped in the middle so Aaron could perform one of his Academy Award-style ballads (don't ask me which one). I nearly drowned in the treacle. [Edited 11/2/06 3:34am]
