Before you compile those final Best of 2006 lists...

Just last week Miho Hatori released Ecdysis her first full on solo effort
since Cibo Matto split (she was the singer). It's really a fantastic effort...not AMAZING, but maybe it will grow on me as such, as it has that potential.

Think Bjork gone Brazillian tries it out Cibo Matto style. That's the best description I can think of. If you liked Cibo Matto, I highly recommend trying this out, as it has a lot of their sensibilities. You'll be saying "Miho is back" as it's a return to what we all loved from her in that band. The genres flow from pop to rock to brazillian to japanese pop. Lyrically, it's all Miho. Singing style, I am reminded of Bjork. The first few words almost sound like her. Other songs bring in instruments that are very familiar to us from Homogenic. It's not Homogenic sounding, but one can't deny the resemblance in some of the songs.

What is a little odd is that it was belived Yuka Honda was the brains behind the music and Miho simply the singer. I can say this albums lays to rest that thought. Also considering Yukas solo efforts so far have been lack luster,

Anyways, I know there are folks on here that would totally DIG this album. I don't wanna say "Move over Bjork" because Miho is no Bjork, but she is along THAT path. nod Again if you were a fan of Cibo, you need to get this, absolutely! And still damn that Sean Lennon for being the wedge that broke them up.
