The Queen Plans a 2007 Album

It has been confirmed that Madonna is returning to the studio, probably after her trip to Africa.

the difference is, she wasn't actually working on an album at the time. she was working on several different musical stage/movie projects, none of which happened, that just conveniently morphed into an album. here's hoping that if she's specifically going in to work on an album, it'll be out in 6 months rather than a year from now.

word is that she's set aside time to work with Lenny Kravitz in the studio, but the rumor is that it's for his material, not hers. and there's the Mary J. Blige rumor also.

i'd like to see her work with a different producer. Stuart Price is a bit of a one-trick pony. and Mirwais, he's got a few different tricks, but i think we've probably seen them all already (or the best of them).

i really liked the rock remixes of American Life and Love Profusion, as well as the original version of I Love New York. gets me salivating at the prospect of a more rock-based dance album.

well she's been kicking around the idea of another dance album, an album of Joe Henry and her, and more work with Patrick Leonnard.

I'm hoping for some good dance tracks and some good ballads. And of course another killer tour

thumbs up to Pat Leonard and Joe Henry for sure. i'd love that. although, it'd probably benefit from another producer (a la Orbit or Mirwais) coming in to remix it for the final product, as on ROL and Music/Confessions.

yeah i heard about the Mary J Blige possibility. (reserving comment at the moment) i'd like to see her and Lenny do a duet. i like them together. and i agree about the Mirwais/Price thing. give all that a bit of a rest this time. though so far i've never been disappointed with a Madonna track or album so. lol

i'm glad you thought of me but i don't think of myself as part of the madonna brigade. as a person, i don't care for her much. i also don't care when she releases a new cd. but i do wish she'd go back on tour! lol cuz i love watching ol' girl perform.

but for real, i like most of madonna's music but i'm not as stuck on her as quite a few people here are.

besides...i still think she's the devil. lol

then i'd have said "it's been reported." "it's been confirmed" implies that someone from Madonna's camp or the record label has made a public statement about it.

I don't want a pop record.
I don't want a dance record.
I don't want an electronica record.

I wish she'd go back to R&B honestly. "Bedtime Stories" and "Erotica" are her finest hours, along with her debut which was very R&B influenced. I think some nice mid-tempo feel good soulful ballads along the lines of "Secret" and "I Want You." She can't top the whole dance/club/disco thing after "Hung Up" and "Jump" IMO.

The problem is,today's R&B music sucks! When she made 'Bedtime Stories' in 1994,R&B was still alive, for the most part. You had talented producers like Babyface and Dallas Austin creating some truly inspired music. If she were to make an R&B album today, every song would be in the same tempo as Ciara's "Goodies" (like Janet's current CD) and it would be just as tedious.

I think she should mix it up on her next CD.Do some edgy dance tracks,do some haunting ballads, maybe a few guitar-heavy rock songs, and I wouldn't mind a few R&B songs (I really liked "Push" on COADF...something along those lines would be cool).I predict that she'll work with Stuart again,at least on half of the album, but I think she should bring in a few other producers...maybe someone we've never heard of.

Here are the rumors that we have heard so far...

She plans to return to the studio in January.
She plans to call Mary J.Blige to discuss a possible duet.
She also plans to record a song with Lenny Kravitz, although it may appear on his next CD,not hers.
Last year,Cyndi Lauper said that she and Madonna would finally work on a song together.
She has said that she may do a ballads album, but in another interview, she said that she would definitely do some more club/dance music.

hmmm

I agree!! She really needs to do a song with someone else for a change.I know she's not that fond of duets, but the results could be very interesting.Mary J.Blige has said that she wants to work with Madonna. Some other possible choices for a duet: The Gorillaz,Jamiroquai,or Junior Senior.

Everytime Madonna starts work on a new album,we always hear the early rumors that suggest it will be a "rock album" lol

Seriously,I have mixed feelings about a rock album from her.I think it would be cool and adventurous for her.She likes to branch out and do different things anyway.I could see her making a loud, outrageous rock album with lots of attitude and tough-talking.I love her "punk" image.Courtney Love, move over.

On the other hand, most of her hardcore fans aren't into rock music. This CD could divide her fanbase. Some will love it,some will hate it.

Confessions is the only time she's really catered to her fanbase with an album. And it's the only time she's ever really made club music. Prior to COAD, she was never that sort of artist. Her remixes were played in clubs, but hardly any of her songs were originally released as club-ready.

Besides, her greatest song ever (Like A Prayer) is a rock song. What are they going to complain about? biggrin

According to the latest word on Madonnatribe, this new album news is all FALSE.

She's going to do more charity in Africa, release some more children's books (yawn) and put out her own fragrance next year. No new album.

Rumour is that she's already set to tour again in 2008.
