No.

They are like a Latin Matchbox 20. There are much better Latin rock groups out there.

I dig 'em - their harmonies are cool and Henry Garza is a good geetar player, though he sure loves his wah-wah...

I love these guys! Their latest CD 'Sacred' is excellent.I'm hooked on the song "Memories".It's a shame they're not getting alot of attention with this CD,it's even better than their first one, imo.

I find them extremely boring. If you want a Latin band with a little more zip, then I would recommend Mexico's Café Tacuba. I would even choose Los Lobos over Los Lonely Boys. bored

But why do they have to represent as the "best Latin rock group" instead of just being a decent band? shrug I enjoy their songs.

You are right, they don't and I don't even think they are marketed that way since many of their songs are sung in English, but that doesn't change the fact that they are very boring.

Okay.

They have a lot of fans so there must be some appeal to them. smile

I have an album that is a little Tex/Mex like that, by one of the actresses in the 'Sin City' movie:

Patricia Vonne - Guitars & Castanets

Okay, you got me there since I wouldn't exactly describe the guitar playing as "awesome".

But you can hear some songs and judge for yourself: http://www.myspace.com/patriciavonne

I can't believe some of the comments!

Henry Garza is one of the baddest cats to ever wear a Strat.

You have to see him. If you play or even if you like guitar, you gotta see him play.

As for the rest of the band, they are all almost virtuoso level on their instruments.

Co-sign, Henry Garza is ain't no joke.

These guys can jam. I saw them live last year with Santana. Henry Garza was playing blues like he was born in the delta. My jaw was in my lap!

Henry Garza has the potential to become a guitar legend like Carlos Santana. He is GREAT.I predict he will eventually make solo albums someday.

For some reason, I don't see him going solo like Mato Nanji of Indigenous (another blues-rock family group)did. "Indigenous" is now just Mato, who was the focal point from the start. Los Lonely Boys' harmonies are such a big part of Henry's sound and they're such a "group" - but then again, who knows...

Love this band. See them live and then let's hear what you have to say.
Real musicians, playing real music and then they all switch instruments and keep it going.

Let's see Matchbox 20 try that.

I agree with Alasseon (who must be some monster guitar player since his taste is excellent) these guys can play. Vocally I dig the dual lead, and guitar wise there is some sweet sounds coming out.

Plus once again they play their own instruments and sing live which is more than half the artists that get mentioned on this board.

They are on my radar, been listening on Sirius, a little SRV on the lead channel but nevertheless if you can even come close to Stevie that's damn good!!
Music is the best...

I think Los Lonely Boys are a much better live act.

To get closer to the roots, I would suggest a band from Austin,TX...
