Anybody Remember Poco?

Does anybody remember this group? They had a couple of hits in the late 70's / early 80's such as, "Crazy Love", and "Shoot for the Moon."
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I remember Poco, but just for that song "Crazy Love." They're one of a series of artists who did the AM mellow gold radio sound. Who remembers these artists:

Player (Baby Come Back)
Firefall (You Are The Woman, Just Remember I Love You)
Ambrosia (How Much I Feel, Biggest Part of Me)
Pablo Cruise (Love Will Find a Way)
Lobo (I'd Love You To Want Me, Me and You and a Dog Named Boo)
Michael Martin Murphey (Wildfire)
Paul Davis (I Go Crazy, Cool Night, 65 Love Affair)
England Dan and John Ford Coley (I'd Really Love To See You Tonight, Love Is The Answer)
Seals and Crofts (Summer Breeze, Get Closer, Diamond Girl)
Dan Fogelberg (Longer, Missing You, Hard To Say, Leader of the Band)
Gerry Rafferty (Baker Street, Right Down The Line)
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (Mr. Bojangles)
Exile (Kiss You All Over)
Orleans (Still The One, Dance With Me)
Micahel Johnson (Bluer Than Blue)
Robbie Dupree (Steal Away)
Bertie Higgins (Key Largo)

In the 70s they had a really nice beautiful ballad out called "Rose Of Cimarron"!! Back then I was heavily into West Coast Country/folk/rock, being the ageing old "make love not war" hippy that I am, and I really loved The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, The Doobie Brothers, etc. and I heard "Rose Of Cimarron" and I fell in love with it!!! biggrin biggrin

Quite well.

You just swerved directly into SoulAlive territory. wink

Some of this material also bore the label Soft-Rock...

Bread (one of the best and most successful examples of this sound):
It Don't Matter to Me
The Guitar Man
If
Make it With You
Baby I'm A Want You
Diary
Everything I Own
Sweet Surrender

Fooled Around and Fell in Love - Elvin Bishop
Lonely Boy - Andrew Gold
Ride Captain Ride - Blues Image
Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head - B.J. Thomas
One - Three Dog Night
Hello It's Me - Todd Rundgren
Nights in White Satin - The Moody Blues (re-released)
I'm Not in Love - 10cc
So Into You - Atlanta Rhythm Section
I Just Wanna Stop - Gino Vannelli
Midnight Feels Right - Starbuck
Magic - Pilot
Shannon - Henry Gross
Save It For a Rainy Day - Stephen Bishop
Let Your Love Flow - The Bellamy Brothers
Go All the Way - The Raspberries
Behind Closed Doors - Charlie Rich
Green Eyed Lady - Sugarloaf
Little More Love - Olivia Newton-John
Midnight at the Oasis - Maria Muldaur
Whenevery I Call You Friend - Kenny Loggins

...There were quite a few artists (some that you wouldn't expect) that fell into that category.

The musical freedom unleashed during the 60s provided fertile ground for the further fusions that would occur during the 70s. (Country-Rock, Power-Pop, etc.)

Agreed.

Omens of Love / Summers of My Life - love
Fly Into This Night - (listening now to the Bali-Ha'i-like melody of the chorus )

Outside of the great writing, production and performances of the Vanelli brothers, drummer Graham Lear drives this album.

I've seen him once performing Gist Of A Gemini with a semi-acoustic set , during the Yonder Tree European Tour .
Vibraphonist Monte Craft was in that band as well , and the drummer had the weirdest acoustic drumset i've ever seen .
I sat with my brother on the front-seat , and the interaction between Gino and the band was magical ... un4gettable experience !

Looks like everybody there could be traced to either David Foster's future recording sessions, L.A. sessions in general, Toto or Chicago. smile
