You know, I bought it because of the hype and only started listening to it last night. I kind of dig it. I was going to buy it at Starbucks since they had it out early but I found it at Meijer for only $9.99 (it's a special that is going to last about a month, too).

I love whenever Motown releases long-buried projects that are just collecting dust in the vaults, but for some reason,I've been reluctant to buy this one.I think it if were a normal pop/R&B album,I'd be more interested. Not sure if I wanna hear another Diana Ross album of jazz standards.

I haven`t bought it yet, but i will, just because it`s Diana Ross rolleyes lol
The "Lady sings the blues" soundtrack is NOT my favorite by her, so i`m really not sure about this one either...
I would much rather see a re-release of her 70s albums, especially "Everything is everything" drooling

Same here - we are naughty, naughty Diana fans. boxed

I will get it but I'm not in a huge rush; I'd rather have a brand new spanking album, to be honest. And I've only read one review of 'Blue' so far and that wasn't very complimentary. confused

But I'm a gullible consumer; give me a few weeks, it'll be in my collection. lol

that reminds me, it`s been a while since i`ve heard about the new studio album, they couldn`t have meant "Blue" neutral

I`ll probably give in and get it too, i bought "Workin` overtime", so there`s no excuse not to buy this album... lol

lol

Oh lawd, there are some awful songs on 'Workin' Overtime' disbelief - which is a real shame considering how much I love Diana/Nile Rodgers. I searched and searched for that bloody album then found it in a record fair.excited I got home, stuck in on and was like 'WTF?!'. pissed lol

LOVE the title track, 'This House' and 'Goin Through The motions', though. nod Diana fans would probably kill me for saying this but 'Workin Overtime' is one of my all-time favourite Diana songs. giggle Especially the video. I love the way she waltzes through that New Jack swing club; she looks like a leather-clad granny who got lost on the way to bingo. lol

eek I`ve listened to the album one time, and that`s it! lol

She proved herself with the "Force behind the power" album 2 years after "Overtime" though, with one of her best singles ever,
"If we hold on together" love

I was thinking of buying it but after listening to a couple of tracks I downloaded on my Napster player, I wasn't really feeling it. Her voice is stellar and close to mindblowing on here, but the CD overall isn't something to completely rave for. There are songs that will have your jaw drop in awe, but there are some that are just too "Lady Sings The Blues-styled" for me. I'm glad I didn't buy it!

Workin Overtime tying to get a new start. I'm working overtime. lol I
barely remember it. I remember the video where she was trying to do the new
jack dance. It was hilarious. You know it is a stigma with a guy buying or
listening to diana ross. If you are a guy and you listen to diana ross. You don't tell the guys about it.That is a no no no! You lose all your cool points
with the fellows. I gotta admit upside down and have fun was cool to listen to back in the day and love hangover. I heard a jazz like diana tune on my way to
work one night and it sounded nice. I was wondering if it was from this blue album. I am still not ready to convince myself that i am ready to buy a diana ross cd.

You don't sound ready to buy a Diana Ross album. lol Maybe you could go in disguise. smile (j/k)

It's true, though - I don't think many straight guys would go around admitting their love for her. nod It's like buying the Lovesexy album in a tutu. lol

And the video for 'Workin Overtime' is hilarious. lol disbelief I've got this video collection that I dig out occasionally and have a good laugh at. Most of her videos are terrible. confused

I guess it's a question of my age. Never been exposed to black or R&B music when I was a kid (Queen and 80's pop and MJ were my childhood sounds). It's something I'm discovering slowly!

But I love Donna Summer!

What diana stuff do u recomend?

smile

I see. nod Well, the 'Workin' Overtime' album is one to avoid lol (see above). Most of her 80's albums are quite patchy, unfortunately, but usually have at least one or two decent tracks. Every fan will have their own favourite, of course, but I'd definitely recommend you get the 'Diana' and 'The Boss' albums - indispensable. nod

'Take Me Higher' is also good if you like Hi-HRG, hands-in-the-air Diana. Her version of 'I Will Survive' is, er, interesting. smile

Have you guys heard anything about the new album? Several months ago,I read an interview with Carlos Santana and he mentioned that he plays guitar on a few tracks. This leads me to believe that Clive Davis is behind the project.

Man yall done messed me up with this diana ross talk. I was just in the
drug store this morning and i happened to see some discount cd's and the
first one i noticed was the temptations a song for you cd which has
shakey ground on it. I liked that song when i was a little boy and it was only
4.99. I look right behind it and what do i see is diana's self titled cd for
the same price. Just when i said i was not ready to buy a diana cd damn if i
didn't. I enjoy listening to upside down which is probably one of my favorites
by her and have fun. I am still not dancing to I'm coming out. Aww hell Nawww!! no no no! If any of my boys come by and flip the my collection and notice
it i will say it is my wife's cd. Oh well at least it's not culture club. lol

People seem to forget that she recorded some decent albums in the 70s, good music, songs like "Remember me", "I`m still waiting" and "Reach out and touch" to name a few. When people hear her name, they just think of this self-obsessed "diva", you know, with the BIG hair, the little outfits, the furcoats and all that stuff.
