This is why it was easy to be diplomatic. I never liked the Cure, but who am I to say that they didn't do something of value?

Honestly, I never really gave them a chance, which is usually the reason I think most people don't like some of the "greats." They just get an impression, like "eww Prince showed his butt. He's a fag. Therefore I hate his music"

I made the same point in another thread. This is one of the main reasons why bland, uninteresting figures often sell well. If you sat 99% of people down and played them some great P songs or showed them some great footage, they'd be converted overnight, but they get put off by the weird behaviour, the appalling wardrobe, etc and so they miss out on all he has to offer. Since it's usually the unconventional artists who are the most talented it means a lot of people simply never know how great certain artists are and how empty what they're listening to is. Shania Twain has sold a hell of a lot more records than Bjork ever will.

Shania aint on this list tho is she? razz come to think of it there are no country albums on here hah!

I had the Sound & Vision 3 disc set, which is basically all 1970-1980. That was enough to hold me for a long time. Eventually, though you need to hear the whole albums.

He's got a lot of compilations.

God, it's like I'm answering for Sextonseven! You dinna ask me

Very cool! I have 33 of these albums. And seeing as how this list was made by orgers, I'll trust the results and pick up a few records mentioned that I don't have.

BTW, Janet's fourth album is Rhythm Nation 1814.

Me too. eek wonder if it's the same ones? eek

PS I think I saw you at NIN the other day but I was too shy to say hi. redface boxed

I guess there SHOULD have been rules about the number of Prince albums allowed per list wink

Still, that's a pretty sweet list. It gives me some ideas for musical purchases.

While doing my list for the voting, I realized how little I've explored music from outside of my time. I mean sure, I have a few old Bowies, I have the Dolly I grew up with. I have Jimi and The Doors on tape, but I've never really delved into some of the older music. That'll be my mission for the rest of the year. nod

PS to NDRU-

Thanks for doing this! I like your editorial comments for each entry nod

And, you SHOULD check out The Stone Roses. I recently gave this album to a friend for his birthday. He's just a bit younger than I am and had never heard any of it. He fell in love after just a few listens. Which says to me that the album is aging well and doesn't come off as a dated-listen which you had to have heard back in the day to apppreciate.

I started out with 'Changesbowie' for awhile and couldn't get enough of it so I upgraded to this one:

I wore that double disc out and exchanged it last year for the latest best of 2CD:

So basically after three compilations, I figured it was about time to finally get a Bowie studio album. lol

You so should have said hi to me! I even told my friend that if some random woman approaches me and calls me sexton, it's one of the org moderators so we were totally expecting you!

What did you think of the show? I was very impressed by everyone. Of the four times I've seen Bauhaus, that was easily their best performance. Peter Murphy was dancing around the stage like it was still the 80s! And Trent's stage production was incredible. Really awesome visuals. Peaches was funny.

I'm only just coming to realise this. It seems unbelievable to me, but it explains so much. btw you have really got to get Hounds Of Love. That album is outrageous. Also Vespertine, particularly the song "Undo".

Also those albums are the definitive albums for those artists imo. HOL is to Kate what PR is to P and Thriller is to MJ.
