Except for their willfully obtuse period where they self-consciously pretended not to take themselves seriously and unconsciously made some fucking great music, which I cherish (Achtung Baby - Pop, inclusive). My favorite U2 album is Zooropa! It's their most interesting - and most underrated one, I think. And then there's The Wanderer .... a masterpiece. I think Pop had potential, but they ran out of jokes a third of the way through and turned out lame-o crap like "Playboy Mansion" on it. Miami is some tune though. And true: "You know some places are like your auntie/But there's no place like Miami" There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. I got this from one of their album reviews, it just abouts sums them up:
Keane sound like they'll be the last in a long line of British bands who've grown tired of miming Radiohead and now simply aim for the much more imitable sound of Coldplay. I say "last" because Keane's debut album, Hopes and Fears, is so miserably and calculatedly maudlin that it almost seems capable of killing the trend started by Travis and passed like a relay baton to Starsailor and, eventually, Snow Patrol. Coldplaya-hatas will loathe Keane; most others will just be insulted. I have also read an article that said the band were put together via ad in "Music melody" mag by music executives.

I prefer Keane to Coldplay.Nice tunes great lyrics. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

You like them? Enjoy them. Don't analize. Who needs his music to be groundbreaking? Not me Well SOMEBODY better damn well start being groundbreaking one of these days! Somebody? Anybody? echo echo echo..... "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven
