The Hook is non existent. You can't recreate a 30's/40's feel with modern production values. It's completely synthetic, use a real band and horns to recreate that sound, not a sample. The production is actually good I if it was just an "instrumental", but the lyrics don't fit. It's like she walked into the studio and laid down some lyrics over the track. it can't be the first single though, that's suicide. The track needs to be remixed.

There it is. I was planning on saying that hip hop and 30's style music doesn't mix, unless the person has serious skills. The song is a big bad bore. She oversings as usual and I think someone said it sounded like she was racing with the song and that the total truth right there. It's exhausting to listen to. Just a bad song from start to finished. I'm disappointed because I was actually looking forward to hearing what her new style would be like since she was going "back to basics" with the 30' and 40's style music. So much for that. Plus homegirl knows how to pick the worst first singles, with the exception of Genie in a Bottle. Way to go Xtina!

Ditto. It doesn't sound right at all. I look forward to hearing this track which I'm sure will be all over the place by the end of the month.

It's absurd and when I heard her play some snippets of one of the songs, I knew it was going to be a train wreck. Can't she just do a modern dance or hip hop album with a slight influence for that music shown in some slower tracks....mixing old with new in that way is terrible.

So, you can't dislike artist #2's song because you like artist #1? I don't get your logic. At all. And I don't get what your problem is, either, considering MJ fans, Madonna fans, DC3 fans, hell a lot of music fans on this thread seem to agree about the song. Are they not allowed to have negative opinions, either?

Also, why bother even posting at all if this is what you're going to post, sos? Seriously. Isn't there much more positive stuff in the world to post about? Talk about a waste of energy. Pot, met kettle.

all im saying is that you seem to get very very very upset whenever anyone says anything critical about janet. yet you seem to be relishing in dismissing xtina...

its one thing to say, "ya know..i really dont like artist a's new song"...its another to create a thread like this. but then, that wouldnt allow your inner cuntiness to shine, now would it?

Um, my first post says I don't like the song. It's my opinion. Other orgers decided to savage the track on this thread because they think it sucks, too. And yeah, I defend Janet because I like her. I'm sorry I do not have any sort of fam feelings for Xtina (maybe you do?). I still don't understand what your big problem is. There are threads like this on the org all the time. Do I call you out because you happen to like Wendy & Lisa but shit on other artists sometimes?

Fine. I don't think I'm the one with their "inner cuntiness" showing, though. shrug

Maybe you should busy yourself worrying about the 5,000 Madonna fans each starting 3 threads every time she farts.

Doing some quick mathematics and taking the number of Madonna threads on this site into account, that means that she farts every 30 seconds! Maybe she has real digestion problems? biggrin biggrin biggrin

Btw, you can hear the song officially and legally (!) on www.christinaaguilera.com.

And yes, it is a piece of shit. No songwriting, and what could be a funky hook is ruined by the plastic sound. (Has anyone noticed the very Prince-like last 5 seconds btw? Best part of this mess!)

I think Xtina is a good example for what is wrong with pop music today. I once saw a live performance of "Beautiful" on TV, and, belive me, the girl CAN sing! And she's sexy. The only problem is that she is completely ruined for me by the music (uninspired plastic crap meant to be played on the radio as background sound) and by the completely overdone marketing of her as a sex icon (most of the time she only comes over as cheap as a peep show girl - sad). One more in the category "I want her in Playboy, but not in my ears". Next!

Too damn true. She's one of the very very few people who came out in the last several years that I liked somewhat because she can sing and I like some of her songs a lot. She got points from me but stuff like this make it very hard to dig her. She overdoes EVERYTHING. The singing, the skankiness, her looks (Lady Marmalade and her Bozo the Clown hair) everything I tell you. I wonder if she's going to say the same things she said when Stripped came out, telling the world how the last album was not really her and that this album is a true reflection of who she really is. If she says that shit, I'ma do this to homegirl: fishslap

I think it kinda hung around. Everything you say is true, but it seems like after "Beautiful" hit, the stations started playing "Dirrty" again. Even now you'll hear a station play "Dirrty" once in a while, an astonishing coincidence considering the initial negative reaction.

Oh, okay, I see what you're saying. I agree. I think a lot of people forgave her for that song after she brought out some tolerable videos. I mean dancing in urinals? Chaps? This was supposed to be sexy? I was repulsed by that video.
