Anyone diggin Arturo Sandoval?

This cat is one of my absolute favorite trumpeters. Would highly recommend Danzon (the cut A Mis Abuelas is brilliant). Love the tone, range, and beautiful arrangements. The sound can be volcanic at times but is still beautiful in my opinion.

Anyone else?

His name came up in conversation yesterday (along with Paquito D'Rivera) while listening to something by Irakere
Unfortunately it was after he'd left the band.

Gotta get something of his (Danzon goes on the list).

Miguel (Anga) Diaz ("Echu Mingua") was with Irakere, by the way....

Sandoval's "Live at the Blue Note" and "Best Of..." CDs are probably good for starters...."Trumpets Galore", "Danzon" and "Flight to Freedom are good, too.

tA: check out his CD "Reunion" with Paquito Rivera

I have all of them...jazz with a Latin flavor.... cool
thumbs up!

Ottensen

I have a piece of this on my iTunes....

Arturo Sandoval , btw, is so cool. From time to time he used to take up "residency" at a couple of universities in Miami and he is very accessible, loved by both students and faculty folks alike. A good mentor and very nurturing to the up& coming college dynamos in that city...I used to go see him perform at free festivals in Bayside Marketplace in downtown Miami, or even better, student music festivals at schools like FIU... He was always on fire.... music music

Rocked it.
