beautiful, unknown songs

everybody has songs that they love, and that mean alot to them, that they wish more people knew about.

the type of song you always play for people, wanting them to love it as much as you do.

What are some for you?

My favorite right now: Floodlights by Gus (now recording under Gus Black). It's from his 1999 album "Word of Mouth Parade", and has always been a very important song for me. It's just incredibly beautiful.

If you have a chance, check it out. It really is wonderful.

What are some of your favorite unknown songs that you love to share with people? I just got paid, and i'm ready to go on an iTunes spree.

Kylie Minogue's "Take Me with You" would be my pick. Most people think disco glitz when they think of Miss Minogue, but this song is utterly hypntozing in its sultry yearning and remains my favorite song of hers. In fact, if Tracy and I had to pick "our song", this would be it.

I'd have to choose Naked As We Came by Iron and Wine
This one is very soft, organic.. very touching one..

Josh Rouse wouldn't be too far behind though.. preview both and then choose wink
I love the lyrics of this.. the strollin guitar and piano.. with the song picking up with beauiful strings makes it.

Or Ben Folds - Still (Reprise)

ahhh.. i'm now goin to listen to all three.. simultaniously

.

If you can get hold of it:

"Break my body" by Hanne Hukkelberg (a live cover of the Pixies song).

love

I have it as a b-side on a promo single of 'do not as i do' but i'm sure it's probably circulating.

Don't know it it's "unknown", but Morrissey's "Yes, I Am Blind" is just gorgeous. cloud9

And Bowie's "Quicksand" as well.

Pulp's "Sunrise", "Wickerman", and "The Birds in Your Garden". Hell, the whole We Love Life album. worship

Melanie Safka's "Beautiful People", "Pebbles in the Sand", and her versions of "Ruby Tuesday" and "Lay Lady Lay".
