Has she always been the more 'diva' classic pop style singer?

What are your thoughts on Dionne? I dont see her talked about much.

I don't know lots of songs by her, but respect her as a longtime artist.

What are your views on her?

She's definitely a living legend.

It was nice to see her on "American Idol" tonight.

Some of her greatest songs to me are: "How many times can we say goodbye" with Luther Vandross, "Heartbreaker", "I'll never love this way again", etc.

Many here are too young to know how good she really was.
IMO, she's sung some of the greatest Pop songs ever thanks to the Bacharach/David writing team.

I've talked her up so much here, I don't know what else can be said. To me, she's the queen of heartache. Nobody sings a pop ballad like she did in her prime. She was consistently good with a classy, distinct vocal (due in part, no doubt, to menthols) style that was instantly recognizable. So many classics!

She did an odd cover version of Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, but all is forgiven by Any Old Time of the Day. It was the flip side of Walk on By, and one of my favorite album tracks of hers. Interesting, fun arrangement, and her vocal soars on that song! She does this beautiful high crescendo that is really lovely.

Very well stated. I must admit I only discovered the TRUE greatness of Dionne a couple of years ago when I bought one of her collections.

You know how you grow up knowing somebody's a legend, but you don't really get it until you take the time to listen.

I see music like food. When you're younger you might not like something because you don't really give it a try or understand. But your pallet changes when you get older and start a trying different things. That's how I see many things now.

I love it and Dionne and Burt were the truth!

my favorite album is the 1979 'Dionne' album

She`s one of my favorite singers.
Of course, her Bacharach/David years were her best, but the Warner years, and the music she made on Arista in the 80s is also great.
The title track from her "Track of the cat" album is one of my favorite songs by her,
i`ve been listening to a songs called "Lookin` with my eyes" a lot lately, a dramatic Bacharach/David song.

My favorite album has to be her live album, "Hot! live and otherwise", where she does a wonderful medley of hit songs, mostly Bacharach/David numbers.

I saw her last year - fantastic concert.

She was a total pro (not in the hooker sense ), and though her voice had faded, she was still magnificent & had the audience in the palm of her hand.

Only slight drawback was she was pushing her son as her support act. He had a great voice and all, but it was all a bit gooey and "we love each other so much and we're so proud of each other and blah-de-fucking-blah".

I used to listen to a lot of Dionne back in the 70's and 80's. After seeing her last night I will definitely dig out my cd's. She was great and still has an excellent voice.

Are you guys up on her 1973 album produced by Holland-Dozier-Holland, Just Being Myself? It's actually kinda hard to find an original of!

The first Dionne Warwick song I knew in my lifetime as a baby was "I Know I'll Never Love This Way Again". I found her greatest (Bacharach) hits at the start of this decade. She owns those songs as far as I'm concerned.

She is incredible and not as recognized as she should be. The whole psychic thing was just but she has an amazing voice and one of my biggest regrets was not snatching up a 3 disc set of her old stuff when I had the chance

So many layers to her talent. I remember as a shorty when she hosted SOLID GOLD!! Other than her mid 90's anti-Snoop Doggy Dogg crusade, I ain't got NO PROBLEMS with Dionne!!! Pass tha JOINT!!!!!
