dance fans.......spunkadelic odd lil' album called "spunk junk" dropped on SBK in 1991. They are american, but sound like a pop version of technotronic. They are a duo, 1 male, 1 female. And both sing, but also rap in some songs. As a rapper, the girl Ali, is quite good. U get slowjams, funk'd up instrumentals, a spot on, funny conversation/song on relationships ("shut up and dance"), and a bit of pop, with the giddy "i know that u love me" and of course, funky sounding dance songs, with nice pop hooks Solid songs, but its the hybrid of the technotronicesque production, mixed with the US dance pop and sometimes, harsh drum programming, is what makes this an interesting relic of a sound that never really existed. Nice try. Solid album | |
