Shuggie! That's how much I love that one!

i think shuggie's has a lot more going on in terms of melodies and different textures, but 'for you' is really strong in its simplicity. i couldn't say one is better than the other, or that i prefer one over the other.

are you running for office? i could answer that one of two ways, but i would prefer to take the higher road.

Last night Crazy You happened to come on and i started to think about how it would've sounded on Shuggie's album. i think it would've placed nicely on the side of Aht Mi Head. i guess both albums remind me of each other. i still can't decide. i know Shuggie was a bit more mature when he recorded II but For you has some nice stuff going on too in regards to melodies and musicianship.

i'll have to check some of that stuff out. if you aren't familiar with rundgren's old stuff, you're missing out on a real treat. there's a 'best of todd rundgren' CD by rhino that you can find at just about any wrecka stow for 7.99 or so...i strongly recommend it!

Besides the fact that the album covers resemble each other, it's not even close as far as what's on wax. Shuggie by a mile. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him." http://ccoshea19.googlepa...ssanctuary http://ccoshea19.googlepages.com

...Now this is a reason why I love being a member on the "org".
I've been listening to Shuggie for the last week, just digging his vibe and amazing melodies on this CD. I love his instrumentation on this joint and this CD seems like a "upbeat" vesrion of Sly's "Riot". After listening to Shuggie, I put on "For You" and re-checked it. It's a great debut but after listening to it (and I said this on another thread), I can visualize the "What's Happening!!" disco dynamite dance contest between Rerun and Dynamite. Hell, they should have used his music instead of that lame Mancini shit they had in the background. Anyway,I'm going with Shuggie (and I'm sure Prince was mesmorized and inspired by this joint as a kid).

Come on y'all:
In Love Crazy You Just As Long As We're Together Baby My Love Is Forever So Blue I'm Yours are some solid tracks. too bad Prince wasn't hip to the XL-30, ain't no telling what this album would've sounded like then.

...
Although I think Shuggie's album has more restless creativity, remember this wasn't Shuggie's first album-- First, there was Al Kooper Presents: Shuggie Otis, then there was Here Comes Shuggie Otis, followed by Freedom Flight and then came Inspiration Information(The Cd version fuses the original "Inspiration" album with a few cuts from "Freedom Flight" album ....I wonder if it might be more appropraiate to compare it to Dirty Mind and Controversy?.... ...
