The *ULTIMATE* "Pleasure Principle" thread is coming [watch out*!] Hello my Velveteers!
Greetings, I hope these letters find you in good faith and wonderful health. Lots to share in this thread. I'll start off first by saying, thank you to the Org Janet fan community for reading and participating in the Control :: the 20th anniversary series. I appreciate your memories, thoughts and just *you* simply clicking on them. It's been fun making them and I'm not done yet. "The Pleasure Principle" Thread will be arriving sometime this weekend. It's been delayed for a while since I had so much going on personally, but I haven't forgotten about the Rhythm Nation Soldiers! You will be blessed with a thread SOON. Keep checking the "Let's Wait Awhile" thread for the Sneak Peek shortly before. Good news: Janet Jackson is eligible for induction in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next year (since her debut album hit in 1982). However, some think she will not be inducted until 2011 since her breakthrough album Control hit in 1986 and that's when she *really* took off musically. (Here's the source if you need verification: http://www.ocregister.com...056568.php ) About the new album: It's expected to come out in late summer/fall 2006. The first single has yet to get a concrete release date, but rumors are circulating that A&Rs, Radio Managers and various DJs listened to a 30-second test of a Janet track and they said it was veryyyy hot. I won't go into hearsay, but it *is* possible for songs to get tested for promotional purposes in order to get a feel of what people think of certain tracks. Shoutout to CravingJanet.com, they recently revealed some rarely seen artwork from the cancelled pressings of the "State of the World" single. "From the withdrawn US 10-track promo CD jewel-case edition, this is the original artwork planned for the US commercial single release that was later cancelled. I don't think this particular sleeve has shown up online before. The 7'' vinyl would have omitted "The Remixes" text, although I'm not sure the 12'' would have. Tracklisting would have been LP Version b/w State Of The House 7''. (Source: www.cravingJanet.com :: the BEST Janet info site on the web... believe it!) Also, here's some miscellaneous Janet-inspired info 4 yo' ear ::: In the latest Tyler Perry movie "Madea's Family Reunion," in the film's ending credits the filmmaker himself lists "Janet Jackson" under his THANK YOU, section. Also, rapper T.I. incorporates elements Q-Tip's rap in Janet's "Got Til It's Gone" into a track on his latest album called "Why You Wanna." Basically he uses Q-Tip's rap "why you wanna do that love"? OK. That's all for now, but the updates will keep coming in the future. Thanks for reading. Keep Janet in your heart and CONTROL in your boombox. DUSTTTTT!!!!! ::heart symbol:: - JANFAN4L. . Tons of people didn't "breakthrough" until later in their career, but she should still be eligible since 1982 was her debut on a major label.

The SOTW set is fantastic. If you like acid house or early 90s Black Box/Snap/C+C type house mixes you'll really enjoy the SOTW remixes. My favorites are the Third World Mix, the Make A Change Dub and the United Nations 12".

I'm always scared to buy an SOTW set on eBay (or any Janet item for that matter) because so many people put up fakes. I remember I was so livid when I shelled out $20 bucks for a fake Sophie Ellis-Bextor set on there.

Actually, Janet had success on urban radio with songs like Say You Do, Young Love, Come Give Your Love To Me and Don't Stand Another Chance, so it wasn't like she was just going tin or aluminium. She made a little dent in the music world. Can you think of some artists that were did low sales at first but later got greater esteem... Can I say Aerosmith?

Man,Who would have thought that I could find a Janet Jackson fan club on a Prince Website? This is really great. I love Prince and I love Janet. Both are different musically in their own right but they are just two of the deepest music folk that I have seen in a long time. The Princess of Law

I find it weird that this guy would question Janet's placement next year when she rightfully deserves it. I'm hearing talk about groups like The Pixies and The Replacements getting potential honors and they sold next-to-nothing in the '80s, but are still getting ceremonial shine. So, it should be a given that Janet will get in next year.
