It's a Paul McCartney and Wings song. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Wait, it's on London Town.
Which came out in '78. London Town certainly won’t floor you on the first listen, but after you’ve heard “Girlfriend,” “Backwards Traveller” and “I’m Carrying” a few times, their charms may win you over (in fact, Michael Jackson liked “Girlfriend” enough to cover it himself). The album’s sedate (some might say “sad”) songs are hardly arena friendly, but the band’s pop craftsmanship is clearly still intact. If you’re looking for Wings’ most underrated album, this is it. "It's The Falling In Love" is the best slept-on gem on Off The Wall. Living to die and I'll die to live again - 360 degrees - comprehend

I think it's the weakest song on the album. It just drags.

Really?? i didnt know that, but I'm sure Michael's version is 1000% better than Paul & wings version They are actually very similar. Except MJ's is a bit "funkier". Well funk-lite I'll say. REALLY funk-lite. [Edited 3/14/06 14:30pm] "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

I disagree. Especially when you have songs like "Rock With You" and "get On The Floor", which I think are sonically better. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I love the H out of this album.
Everything's solid on it. No complaints. No song I favor over the other, every gem is a standout. It's perfect.

Not the BEST song on Off The Wall (that's "I Can't Help It"), but I certainly don't skip "Girlfriend".

I agree with u with a passion. I don't care if Paul did write it, his version AND MJ's both blows as far as I'm concerned. Mike never even would have considered doing this cut if Sir Paul hadn't wrote it. That song is sorry. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Girlfriiiiiend I'm gonna tell your boooooyfriend YEAH! The best part of the song is Doo doo doot dootdoo doot doot doot doo doo fade like whatevr, "get on the floor" is the weakest song on the album I used to think Get On the Floor was the weakest but more and more I would hear things in it that I didn't pick up on previous listens. The groove and percussion are great and I like his low vocals and OMG, the break is too hot! Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I agree! That song is excellent and could have easily been a single in 1979. no matter how it starts it ends the same someone's always doing someone wrong
