A couple of obvious choices:

Stevie Wonder -- Talking Book

John Coltrane -- A Love Supreme

A couple of time-tested classics:

Wayne Shorter -- Speak No Evil

Steely Dan -- Aja

A couple of more contemporary classics:

Passion -- Peter Gabriel

Meshell Ndegeocello -- Bitter

Blowout Comb -- Digable Planets

And a new classic:

Madvillain -- Madvillainy

If you're looking for music that will evoke the mood of tranquil rumination, and deep melancholy at the same time than you should check out the Gabriel Yared's suite to Cold Mountain.

Watch out! I'm not talking about the OST version of the album, which is packed with blue grass. You need the original suite. wink
I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

Can you title some of your photo pictures?

When something feels right, it feels brilliant...even if it's just for moments at a time.

Tracks on this CD are often brilliant to me. Today it's What'cha Know About (but that keeps changing) Very Jimi and Sex and Candy.

On My Mind is nice too.

Grows on you. Doesn't fizzle. This qualifies.

Great choice ~ I picked "Dangerous" but honestly HIStory (Disc 2) is better IMO.

how does it compare to "OK Computer"?
I love "OK Computer" though I dont' think it's necessarily a masterpiece. It is a great album and gets better with repeated listenings.

I actually love Kid A much, much more. It's very different than OK Computer, more jazzy.

Three of my absolute favorite (non-Prince) albums:

Walking Wounded by Everything But the Girl

Night Beat by Sam Cooke

Listen Without Prejudice by George Michael
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
