MARIAH: She CAN sing live. I saw Charmbracelet tour live twice and she was perfect, incluidng the high notes. She did sound a little horse on We Belong Together, but she didn't SUCK, and she brought it for Fly Like A Bird.

What waas up with the clear tube next to the mic for Sly? Was it a breathing tube or for a vocoder (which he never used?) DId he actually sing or play anything> It looked like he was just baning random keys on the keyboard. Crazay.

U2 is one my favorite bands, but they weren't exactly deserving of the award this year. Bono seemed to acknowledge as much in his acceptance speech when he said that they lost the award for Achtung Baby and All That You Can't Leave Behind. He was very gracious to Kanye, Mariah and Gwen Stefani though.

I thought Kanye was about to go postal when they showed his reaction before they announce the award. I just hope he doesn't go on some boycott of U2 or anything else.

I had a feeling that they could pull a surprise on us since everyone was expecting Mariah or Kanye to win. I agree I don't think they should have gotten it this year but hey, it wasn't a bad album just a year late in getting this award but it came out after eligibility in 2004. It's all good.

I got the impression that it had been planned for him to sing more than he actually did.There were gaps when the other singers stopped, as if they were letting him sing a part and he didn't sing it. Then when he *did* sing, his mic wasn't even turned up enough for the first part.

From what I saw:

Madonna/Gorillaz: Good performance. The Gorillaz part was kind of useless, but Madonna did a pretty good job herself. Just wish she would have sang "Sorry". But o well, it was good nonetheless

Mariah Carey: She didnt suck at all, but she does tend to strain her voice nowadays. Also, she's never been much of a performance artist. That, my friends, is the line that divides Mariah and Madge

Paul McCartney: Pretty good job. Still has it

Kanye West/Jamie Foxx: Fucking insane ass show. I mean, WoW.

Herbie Hancock/Christina Aguilera: Christina is such a great singer. I think I can actually rate her a little higher than Mariah circa 1999-present(she has nothing on classic Mariah though).

Sly Stone: The mohawk was a pretty big distraction. Nuff said.

I think that Christina Aguilera was absolutely the best thing about tonight's show.

John Legend sucked major donkey balls.

The Sly tribute: A hot mess. They have the Family Stone come onstage to only be buried in the background and all of them were there except Larry.

As much as I do not like Mariah Carey, this should have been a big night for her. with all she's been through, her comeback was pretty amazing.

So far the biggest winners are:

U2 - 5 Grammys
Alison Kruss - 3 Grammys
Kanye West - 3 Grammys
John Legend - 3 Grammys
Mariah Carey - 3 Grammys
Kelly Clarkson - 2 Grammys

Madonna/Gorillaz - lame and disappointing I am a Madonna fan but that did nothing for me at all and her singing was bad. She needs to fire her stylist or whoever for letting her go on with that horrible leotard. It's not cute. Gorillaz what can you really do with something like them? I'd really like to know. It didn't move me at all. Still like the song though.

Kelly Clarkson - she was one of the better peformers plus she was so sincere when she won those awards. She deserved them and I'm happy for her.

John Legend - I hope to never hear Ordinary People EVER again.

Kayne and Jamie - he may get on my nerves but the performance started strong. It went a bit long at the end though.

Herbie Hancock and Christina Aguilara - good performance. Christina sounded great and complimented Herbie's piano. A bit too much vocal acrobatics but she still sounded great

Sly Tribute - the ads alone showed me that it was a train wreck waiting to happen. It was still great to see Sly, even in his condition. I must say, his mohawk was more rock and roll than all these new acts that claim to be rock artists, hell even hip hop. He still had attitude to be able to show up for a few minutes and then up and leave. I ain't mad at him. With a tribute like that, I'd say hi and bye too.

Overall a very lame Grammys. Prince please show up again next year.
