THANKS! AND PLEASE GIVE ME ANYTHING ELSE U KNOW.

Well, you're in for a treat suby. If I'm correct next week or something a elvis record is released in america : A little less conversation, a little more action, by Elvis And JXL.
The first ever allowed remix of an Elvis tune. (It's the song of the latest Nike commercial).
The song is allready no 1 in The Netherlands,England and Ireland etc.

FYI. Junkie XL (the remix dude) had to change his artistname for this song, sounds familiar wink, to JXL cuz the musical guardians of Elvis decided that Junkie XL would draw attention to the 'wrong' period of Elvis' life..

Are ya kidding? That's like saying Eminem is influencing black rappers. Maybe you should read about Jackie Wilson. He was Elvis before Elvis. His Hair, voice and dance moves.
It's just that the times would'nt allow a black man into the homes of whites doing what they eventually accepted Elvis doing.

sunlite is absolutely correct, it was jackie wilson who was a major influence to elvis, with a little help from forest gump maybe wink
elvis was a great entertainer, but he surely was no musician of world class. yes he appeared in quite a lot of movies but if you watch those you will say he better should NOT have appeared in them. he did not open doors for black artists, because promters booked him instead. he is the reason why most people today think that rock n roll is a white art form. I am no racist, but this is just some facts to think about

It kinda sucks though. I mean the whole song is just boring, apart from the hook which was used in the advert. Then it just goes on the same way until the end. Probably the shittiest Elvis track I've ever heard (not that I'm a connoiseur or anything)

He opened up many oppurtunities for blacks? Sorry..it was the other way around..black performers opened oppurtunities for him. Many black performers were dancing, singing and performing like Elvis before Elvis burst onto the music scene. Elvis and many other white artists at the time adopted styles from black performers and made it very popular. If you dig deeper in music history you will most surely find this. Peace.

Ain't That the Damn Truth, even white folks wrote about what he picked upon had already been started by blacks; it didn't get any popularity until he incoporated it!rolleyes

Yeah, he did look nice like that. smile Does Prince look better? Well, they're two entirely different men. Both reek of sexuality, both have eyes to melt hearts, both sing with such passion, both move so very, very well...nah, I don't think Prince looks better...they've both got it, but in different ways. Funny...the look in their eyes are quite similar though...hmmm...never thought about that before. Anyway...

Elvis did open doors for blacks. Blacks could not get played on the radio before Elvis came along. Elvis made rock and roll mainstream and then all those black artists started getting radio play ,started playing cities they had never played before and getting more bookings. Elvis did not shaft black performers. Those black artists record companies did. Nobody claims Elvis was the first. The "King Of Rock and Roll" title is not based on who was first.

Elvis did not "rip off" anything. He grew up with black music, gospel music, country music, white music and he put them all together to make the huge impact he did. Elvis sounded more country than he did black on those early records anyway. He didn't sound black at all. The Rolling Stones and The beatles covered more black music than Elvis did.

Elvis also brought Sexuality to rock and roll. Prince would never have gotten away with what he has done on stage if Elvis had not done what he had done before.

It 's funny when black folks bring up that Chuck d song. considering Chuck has changed his tune about Elvis. Mojo magazine did a tribute to Elvis and Chuck had kind words to say. Called him a badass whiteboy and said one of his favorite Elvis songs is "Suspicious Minds".

As far as looks? Elvis was classically good looking. Prince isn't. Prince gets by more on attitude and personality. Prince has great eyes though. Elvis was one of the best looking men on the planet. Even in the early 70's he still looked great. It wasn't until around the last two or three years of his life, when his drug problem got to be too much and his health went into the crapper did he lose his good looks.

Elvis and jackie Wilson were friends and when Jackie Wilson was in a coma and dying in the seventies, Elvis paid his his medical bills for his family.

Why is Elvis still around today and sold the amount of records he has? There is no easy answer to that. He was a great perforner, had great charisma, was a great singer, great guy, great looking and so on but it's more than that. He had "It". He had something that touched millions of people. If it was known what was so special about him then they would be trying to clone him.

yes, that's the answer. thanks very much! smile

i read certain quotes and ppl. like james brown said he and elvis are like brothers. as posted here elvis was not being mainstream but the public caught him and made him famous. he did do country and gospel. not just rock n roll.
he did bring sexuality. lol! nonetheless, i was wacthing a film on little richard and he said this white guy kept stealing his songs and making a roft of it. since whites weren't allowed to listen to black music, ppl. stole his music and made it his own. elvis liked the music and sung it, not stole it.

u are right about the "it" factor. a movie was coming on starring elvis. it was a black and white film. my father could not stop watching elvis. he was hypnotized by him.

Amazingly, Elvis is currently at number 1 in the charts here in the UK with a remix of one of his less well known songs, 'A Little Less Conversation' (as featured in the soundtrack to the film 'Ocean's Eleven' and a World Cup sponsorship). This means he has beaten The Beatles hands down as the act with the most number one singles ever.

In a perverse sense, there is something of a connection between Elvis and Prince. Elvis was not a prolific writer (Elvis never had a hit with any of his songs due to the fact that there is no proof that he ever wrote a goddamned song in his entire life...)

On the other hand,Prince is the most prolific songwriter of his generation and all the serious hits he's had so far have all been original compositions by him.

I'm sure there are countless other comparisons that can be drawn between these two.

I have a 2CD Elvis best of which I rarely listen to. He's very overrated...

Like it's been said above, as with the case of Eminem, the face just fitted for presenting a dilluted take on artforms previously undesirable to the mainstream.

What in thee fuck? Elvis brought sexuality to rock and roll? Do you know the difference between his version of Hound Dog and Big Ma Bells original version(Maybel)? I think you mean he brought sexuality to leave it to beaver whitebread americas rock and roll. And what Prince did onstage is a lot different than what Elvis did onstage. This shit is funny and sad at the same time.
