Missy Elliott

Any fans of her here?

I love her, personally, and think she gets way too much flack for being a second-rate emcee. She pays so much homage to and has so much respect for the old school, has such first-rate production on her albums, has such a winning personality, and is so visually innovative with her music videos that I can't help but dig her lots. In addition, she's a talented pop/R&B songwriter, a soulful vocalist, and I don't care what y'all say: She has been spittin' lovely eversince she shed all that poundage. love

All opinions are welcome.

I just dont get her at all...she makes my skin crawl. Perhaps its just a real difference in taste but, recently, all of her stuff sound the same and totally half-baked. Put her on soembody else track and she'll ruin it at the drop of the hat by poldding over it with her clanky raps

I really want to like her because everybody ays shes a genius and talented...but I cant see it myself

No way lol -- they're just funny and full of personality, which is why I love me some Missy. biggrin

I mean, true, it'd be better if Missy had more talent with her lyricism (that's what it takes to be an emcee, anyway, IMO), but again, it's her persona that wins me over rather than her rapping skills.

she makes GREAT singles. definitely the premier singles artist of our time.

awesome producer. actually a good dancer IMO. IMPECCABLE songwriter.

there's always one or two turkeys on her otherwise classic albums...and i dont like her slower stuff as much.
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me
